2015 Porsche To Do Resolution

Happy New Year!

What is your 2015 Porsche To Do resolution?

Mine is to finally add a data system and better video system to the Spec Boxster. Thus far, I have been getting by with an AIM Solo GPS timer and a single GoPro video camera and I'd really like to have an integrated data system with video overlays.

Good resolution, thstone. I'm always jealous of those YouTube vids where you see everything on the screen. My GoPro is a series too old and my TraqMate is too to integrate, but they do the job for me. (For now.)

My resolution is the IPD plenum and GT3 TB. They arrive on Tues. Not worth a lot of HP, but it will help.

Complete suspension overhaul to include adding the ROW M030 kit. New wheels and tires for summer only. New front and rear bumpers along with new front and rear lights. Porsche stripe for the side and some carbon fiber trim pieces for the interior.

As a side I'm going to sell my Traqmate HD setup.
  • Between the Go Pro and the Traqmate the conversion to video isn't as easy as they make it sound.
  • The Camera doesn't always start automatically, or stop
  • At high speed (125+) the Go Pro is getting a fluttery image. This Happened on my Hero, so I got a Hero 3 same thing.
  • The Hero 3 has a max file size (2Gig) I have not been able to stop so after 15 minutes it starts a new video file. Track sessions are over 15 minutes.
  • Now I have to use another software to stitch the 2-3 files together before I can overlay.
  • After combining the video you must sink the overlay and video manually.
  • Limit on input to tach, 2 digital signals, and 2 analog signals, all hard wired individually.
Hoping to get an Aim Camera and OBD II interface.

Finish my WP/Low temp thermostat/UDP that I started last week. (putting on jack stands is as far as I have gotten....)

Getting a track day oriented alignment. Possible camber plates.

New extreme summer tires, my RS-3's will be worn out by summer. I will get another set unless there is a major set on sale or I find a set of wheels for sale with a set of tires at a good price.

Congrats!

-----

I will spare you the spreadsheet, but first up, new headlight bulbs (maybe some of Nine6Nine's xenon upgrades later this year), upgrade my iPod connection for my new iPhone, full detail, and to do more of the regular maintenance myself! Also on the list, clear taillights, ROW M030 upgrade, new tires...

Happy New Year Everyone!

I think I better get outa this Boxster and into an 09 or newer Boxster or a low mileage 996 Turbo. Neither will cost me more in the long run...

As much as I don't want to - I think I will do the IMS in the spring. It's a big expense that for most people has zero return other than piece of mind. But I think I'll buy a chunk of that piece of mind, even though my high-kilometer box is at the low end of the risk scale.

Other than that, I resolve to drive the heck out of it this year!
