Need your guy's quick opinion(brake caliper painting)

I've been playing with the idea of having my brake calipers painted since I got the car and rather than doing the usual normal paint scheme, I thought I would consider doing something unique.

What do you guys think of doing something like these, but layered like the red white and green and instead with the German colors?? Tacky or no??

Hey - it's your car. If you like it, got for it. Who cares what others think. When it comes to this, beauty is totally in the eye of the beholder.

I guess I like "boring". Original red is the best IMHO.

Very much appreciate the input so far guys. I thought a little bit more guys would kinda like the tri-color idea, but I guess not. If I do 1 solid color, I'm leaning towards yellow with black Porsche lettering.

Agree completely. In the end, you have to be happy. Red makes me happy

I like anything that is new or different so I'm on board with the tri-color!

The question with a tri-color is which three colors? The green-white-red looks like an Italian flag so that combo didn't work for me on a German car, but I am sure that you could come up with a color combo that works great on your car.

Would be a nice intermediate step, right after the illuminated oversized spoiler and before getting around to wiring up the underbody neon glow lights

Seriously, its your car, so whatever floats your boat, but unless your friends all have rotating seasonal decorations on their mailboxes, they may be more impressed by the effort than by the result.

But hey, my father once had to talk me out of blacking out the grill of a 1972 Oldsmobile (for a more sophisticated european look) so whadoIknow...

I prefer one solid color as red or maybe yellow, otherwise it's too busy on the eyes.

The shop right next to my indy does plating and all....

I constantly get bullied by these dudes about my yellow calipers on my red boxster :/ "Nice piss yellow calipers they say.... yellow is reserved for school buses, no?!" etc etc.... I've heard it all from them lol

They want to take them off my car, strip them in chem and nickel plating them so they can have a picture of their retrofit service for Porsche calipers on their website. They'll do it for free.... including the PORSCHE lettering paint job. What do you think of this idea? They'll look just those on the pic below.... kinda titanium looking.

all good ideas. the Italian colors on a german car, I think not! I painted my ruby red with white lettering. its kinda standard but the car is arctic silver and boxster red interior, I like the "old school" look. the nickel plating is a cool idea but not sure if it "pops" through the wheel spokes like a bright color. tacky? no, we love our cars and painting calipers is just another way of personalizing them.

The nickel plating looks very nice but would get lost with the standard silver wheels. I still prefer the red, it looks great and gives it that little bit of bling. By the way, me second choice would be yellow, I would stick with that Fred!

I was also thinking about "something unique" but trying to stay within a factoryesque theme, so I went with green with a sort of rough orange peel/crackle texture.
I love yellow, but because that's reserved for PCCB's, it wasn't an option.

I prefer silver or stainless steel lug nuts and exhaust pipes as well.

I love my yellow calipers!

Beside I think those brembo Porsche stockers are cast, not CNC'ed like the performance kits so they would need to be polished in a way (tumbler + belt polishing min). Also the guys wants to take a face cut and engrave the Porsche lettering on them :/ Not sure if this would compromise their integrity in all honesty so... still not sure.

I think OP's pic is pretty cool. Wheel color matching the caliper, quality rotors and all. Nice setup

Solid Orange/Black lettering is what I'd do.
