If you are planning on booking a session, better save your $$, I heard it will be several $1,000

"...just minutes from Los Angeles International Airport"
Maybe at 3am on a Tuesday. Otherwise, it is likely to be more than "just minutes" since you will be driving on the most heavily traveled, busiest, and most congested freeway (I-405) in the United States.

Legend says that The 405 got its name because you can only go "4 or 5 mph".

I heard the longest straightaway will border the 405, possibly instigating some impromptu races.

Depends on what you get. When I did the Sport Driving Experience at Barbour in Birmingham it was $2,500 for 2 days. Now it's about $3,000 I think.
I'm sure there will be cheaper entry level experiences.

I drove by the site of the Atlanta center that was under construction when I went to Atlanta this summer. Didn't get to see too much since I didn't get off the highway but I recall seeing a big sign and some cranes and stuff.

I guess the San Diego PCA DE events are a huge bargain. I did the 2 day Performance Driving School and it was only $370. The next DE event is at a track and IIRC, it is $250 for 2 days
