Kawasaki & Yamaha rider here! See garage for pictures. R6 and ZX10 gone now but still tinkering with my 636. Really hoping everything works out for me this winter to hopefully have an R1 in the garage. I miss having a Yamaha in there.

The bummer of being up north, this is the extent of what my riding will entail for the next few months.

1999 KLR 650 & 1979 FXE. Sold my Jeep 1981 CJ5 with a fiberglass body and was going to buy a new Ducati Multistrada when I saw my 2002 S at the same price and choose 4 wheels. I'm not a bit sorry about not buying the Ducati.

1979 FXE. Guess I always liked older vehicles. Current rides 2004 Ford 150 4x4, 2002 Boxster, 1999 KLR 650, and the 79 HD. Newest vehicle is a 2008 MDX that I have at a second home.

I used to ride motorcycles and race occasionally. But I was slow and tended to crash on the track, last time out I broke some ribs and had a mild concussion, so I gave up racing. Then, i got hit head on by a hit and run SUV, so I don't ride on the street anymore either.
And riding in Miami FL is boring. Dead flat, no twisties, crazy drivers. If I lived somewhere like the San Fran Bay area I would probably get a bike, but not here in FL.
I still have the Ducati 750 F1 that I raced and crashed. Its actually a very rare and valuable bike but since the crash on the road, it has a certificate of destruction title, so I'm just going to sell it as a restoration project or a race bike. Incidentally, the 750 F1 is very competitive in a couple of CCS categories.

We are transitioning but still have two in the stable. Pictured is my '08 Kawasaki Versys. Not pictured is my wife's '10 BMW F800ST. We recently sold our BMW R1200RT.

Here are my two current rides. I've done the crotch rockets in the past but gave them up before something bad happened. Now I commute with the GS with ABS and cruse on the Victory and really wish it had the same ABS as the BMW. Amazing how easy it is to lock up the brakes with touring tires and not sticker crotch rocket tires.

san rensho whats the deal with the 750 F1 any pic's in current condition? I've always loved those classic bikes. I had the same vintage Cagiva's many years back and wish I had never sold them. You are correct that these are becoming very difficult to locate.

It has sat for about ten years covered in a carport. Recently I got it out and the motor turns over and has compression but I haven't been able to start it. I need to go through the carbs. Good thing is that it sat with race gas in it all these years so hopefully I won't find too much gunk in there.
Its all there, original glass and a set of race glass, both of which are rough but repairable.. Needs a few things, a shift lever, an original handlebar brake and a speedo, which has cracked glass but I think a speedo shop could easily repair it.
If someone were to restore it, it would be mostly cosmetic. New paint for frame and for the glass. If you know how to paint, I think you could get away with under $1k in materials for the cosmetics.
I've seen unrestored, low mileage examples go for $20k on ebay. Mine restored I think would fetch in the $7500-10,000 range, assuming you could get a title for it.
I'll take some pictures later and post them.

Ok guys, lets be correct here. They're sport bikes, not "crotch rockets," just like Boxsters are sports cars, not ass-rockets !

Urban Dictionary: crotch rocket
DagDisco, VERY jealous of your GS, I love those bikes.
Beautiful day here, changed the oil in 5 different motors and rotated a few sets of tires. Unfortunately the bikes are going into hibernation until the spring, at least the boy does his own maintenance.

I guess you missed my attempt at humor by calling sports cars "ass rockets" .

There are different types of sport bikes dependent on the country of origin and common local food as follows:
Rice rocket
Kraut rocket (I am partial to these since it my country of origin)
Pasta rocket
Bangers and mash rocket (my personal ride)
Haven't come up with a good one for an American sport bike now that Erik Buell is back at it.

We don't get may sunny months over here, but there is a lot of us Boxster owners on BoXa.net over here in the UK that have got motorbikes.
Here's the last two I have had.
Yamaha R6

Ducati 947

I got this Yellow phase going on at the moment the Ducati was a stable mate for the Boxster and the wife's Mini makes a nice set,

Guvs.

Hitting stuff is bad, but being hit is life threatening.
Hit a dog that was crossing the freeway, clipped his butt and he spun around a few times and then ran off.
Darwin let us both live another day so we are both the wiser.
I drive very cautiously as the distracted cell phone drivers scare me the most.
I never ever drive in anyones blind spot on the bike or cars.
I think cars should have built in jammers to prevent cell use in a car when its in turned on.
In the US, over 1.3 million accidents a year cause by cell phone use, 330,000 with injuries, 8000+ fatalities a year.
Thats a 1 in 300 chance, so if you get out on the roads everyday its a rate of about 1 accident a year, with a 25% chance you will be injured.
Defensive driving skills are absolutely required now, especially on a Bike. (Rant completed!)

Yes, three BMWs and I'm more a bike guy than a car guy and find car club activities positively boring in comparison. Plus, I'm a believer in if it ain't German it's crap and in any event I wouldn't leave town on a bike with chain rear drive. The third bike is an old R80G/S, not pictured here. 215 miles to lunch and back last Friday on the red one. The gray one has toured the Indy MotoGP circuit in 2013 and 2014.
