I'll let one of the magazines take that one on. What I was comparing was 987 to 981, which is the move Tucker is making.

The CS driver in this video was getting used to the car (1st time driving it on the track). He said he shifted to Sport + half way thru the run and there was no staying with him on the straight after that. He was taking it easy thru the corners, so I was able to somewhat stay near. But 6500 redline & 303HP in my 987 vs 9K & 325HP in his 981 + PDK + all the new electronics is like bringing a knife to a gun fight. Technology marches on.

Even though the numbers aren't to far apart....there is a lot more low-end grunt with the base 981 vs base 987. Add the magic-insta-shift PDK....and I have ZERO reason for an S or GTS. I am having a very very difficult time keeping the speed inline now. More HP/Torque is just beyond me.

It would be interesting to see a real-world lapping comparison between my 981 PDK base vs a 987.2 R (which I've driven at speed). I think it might be very close.

This is the first time I've spent any length of time with the PDK...and while a manual is always the pure way to go...no arguement...I can understand why the Porsche engineers are hot on this thing (GT3). It's amazing. So very smart and so blindingly fast at shifting.
