Agree on the car prices. Muscle cars are off the hook and I like to point out to my kids (for historical purposes) what a piece of crap most of those cars were in terms of fit and finish, paint quality, etc. Aweful. I work with a guy who still owns the first car he ever bought - an early 80s Camaro -and a perfect example of how the were actually done. References to the movie Johnny Dangerously crack me up. I saw that movie in the theater and thought it was awful, and yet for my entire adult life I've had lines from that movie pop into my head. Wasn't it the one with the .88 magnum "in case you needed to shoot lengthwise through a school"? Or the guy in the bathroom when it blew up and he was holding the handle from the old school toilet with the overhead tank "I'm holding my dork in my hand". |

Especially with the wheel upgrade. They're 16"s, correct? Puts the entire car into a better proportion, versus the stock 14" wheels. Plus white is a great color for Porsches. How many miles on her? Just wonderin'............. TO |

17 x 7 wheels off of the front of 2 993s. I've owned more than a dozen 924s. This one is a 1987 924S with about 155,000 miles.

My son disfigured one this way while in college.

I have been traveling this week in West Virginia. I went to the Green Briar estates. While setting in the entrance getting a pass a newer Carrera 4S came up behind me and as he passed we heard a "Nice car" from the driver, he gave a friendly wave as we did in return. This is a common occurrence.

My Boxster doesn't have traction control and my 996 did, something I didn't consider at the time. There have been a couple of times I wish I had it on the Boxster, but I've learned when not to push it, thankfully without hurting it. As long as I can get into and out of it I'll never let the Boxster go. I'm one of the geriatric crowd you guys talk about, but not snobbish at all. Any Porsche is a great car and anyone who has driven Porsches knows that. Right now I'm jonesing for a 914 with a Raby Type IV or a Cayenne S. Somewhat of a conundrum. In a couple of more years I'll probably buy a Panamera. I would never buy a new Porsche. They are just too darned expensive or I'm too cheap. I've only ever had one bad Porsche in 30+ years and I should never have bought it, not having done my due diligence. My Boxster with Jakes magic touch is the seat of the pants fastest car I've ever owned, although I had an upgraded 930 back in the 90s that had more HP, it was hard to get to all the time and a super charged 911 SC that was just plain scary in traffic. I had to remove the supercharger belt when driving back and forth to work in heavy traffic. As far as handling, there is no comparison with anything but the 968 in my experience. Porsche got that one right, but they cost too much at the time, especially with a 4 pot, when the Asian turbo 6s could be had for less, and very few were built. Most are still on the road though and for not very much money up front. |

Literally spit out some morning Java laughing at that, I totally forgot that scene. I worked at Central Hardware (similar to a Lowes or Home Depot now) while still in school with a bunch of guys when that movie came out, we spent years insulting each other using the Moroni method lol. |
I wear camo in my 986
Sadly I have purchased a " Poor man`s Porsche " and a " Porsche Girly car. " An 88 944S that was track modded. Then I sold that and bought a 99 986 mint. I sold the 944 mostly because my wife doesn`t drive a manual. So with this being said the Boxster is Tip which I love. I`ve owned track cars a race car and at my age, I`m tired of shifting. The 944 was fun I could toss the back end around and drift a tiny bit. The Boxster ? We know they don`t do that very well, they SLH ( Stick like hell )
I`m moving my way down the engine location and may get a rear engine, with tip of course.Hey I finally get a "Rich mans Porsche." If my wife lets me sell the 986.;) |
