Always remember, without the Boxster there is no Porsche. Financially, it saved the company. It gave Porsche the volume and thus profits enough to invest in the cars you see today.
Owned 2 Boxsters, wonderful reliable fun cars. Got compliments/comments regularly and never negative. |

I think we need a pro boxster snobbery thread haha, a place where we can jokingly bash our porsches and the others we have experience with.

Not just Porshe owners.

Every time I give a old air-cooled guy a ride in my Box he is astounded by everything about the car, even before I built the engine.

Also remember there are more 996 parts in a Boxster than 986 parts. Just check the part #'s! |

Their rules dictate that any watch that has at least 51% of its parts and labor from there can have 'Swiss Made' on the dial.. even if the other 49% is from Taiwan. |

These threads on "My Boxster gets No Respect" nauseate me to no end. They all start out the same, whining about how some idiot made a snide remark about their Chickster or how a 911 owner looked down their nose at them. Then the outrage ensues over whatever perceived slight or disparaging remark was made, then the tide turns and other members chide on with their disparaging remarks about whatever model or make car they want to rail on; IE participating in the exact same behavior that got them indignant to begin with. Usually about halfway through the second page the collective self stroking about how the Boxster really is the only sports car Porsche made gains momentum and several posts later everyone agrees that we're all the smarter ones since it's obvious the Boxster handles the best......blah blah blah.
In the years I owned my Boxster I only heard one comment about it being a "Girl's Car", and that was from a 12 year old kid who was the friend of one of my kids. Since owning the 993 and frequenting those forums and befriending other 993 owners I have not once heard them knock on the Boxster in any way. If a Boxster even comes up in conversation everyone pretty much agrees that they are the performance bargain if you want a convertible that handles great. Why anyone would be concerned with what an obvious Jack *ss had to say to begin with puzzles me. Rant Over........ |

In the Harley world the pecking order is alot like the alledged Porsche anti snobbery.........Hard core old time riders think the only good Harleys are those with the Panhead or Knucklehead motor. Then the Shovelhead motor came and almost put Harley out of business it was so bad, but now a shovelhead is seen as a collectable/classic. Then the Evo motor bikes came out and the hard core riders hated them, even though they are the best and most dependable motor Harley ever built. Most custom built bikes have aftermarket Evo motors. The Twin Cam is the lastest motor and its had its ups and downs, but overall is a good, dependable motor. Of course all the Evo motor riders hate it along with any old timers that are left over.........The point is if you keep your car/bike in good shape it will be considered a classic/collectable vehicle in the future and will be admired. I happen to think that the Boxster will be a true collector/classic car down the road. It may take another 20 years. Back in the 80's you couldnt give away alot of muscle cars. Now I cant believe the prices that they can go for and how desirable they are. Maybe in the future the Boxster will be admired alot like the 356 is today, but the best thing you can do in this time is take care of it, ride it and enjoy it.
