I had over 29000 on my 01 before it blew at 89,000 with a stretched timing chain (according to Jake's admin). All were type 1 and usually were logged during fast starts in first gear.

BTW the way it is not a count of rpms but rather how many times a spark plug fired while at redline.

I see no reason to flog a Boxster's engine up to redline in first gear, even under track conditions.

IMO, second gear is the real power gear, once you get her goin'; third gear is the kicker, fourth gear is cruisin', then fifth or sixth, in normal conditions............is just sustaining speed.

I've never hit the rev limiter. Brought her to redline many times (2nd, 3rd, 4th). Empathy towards one's machinery is important, and not just in maintaining longevity.
