Welcome to the forum, I was in your neighborhood a few weeks ago for the Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS.org). So many awesome roads to drive! You're a very lucky person. Hope you find the car of your dreams.

Welcome.Ilive in Marion just up the road. The Poesche dealership in Hickory had a Tech session last Saturday. The gave us breakfast and a tech class on 4 wheel alignment. They also did a free alignment check on all our cars and offered a $50 dollar discount to any of us that scheduled an alignment that day. Also in the welcome packet they had a $20 discount coupon.I had my alignment done for $129.They are a great dealership. They also installed my new coolant tank and topped off the coolant for free. They plan on having a tech meet every two or three months.Come over to Asheville the first Saturday of every month for our monthly meetings,We do some great rides.I will be in Hickory Saturday evening at the German restaurant if you want to meet up.

Welcome, from someone who lived in NC from Dec 1996 - March 2013, first in Wake Forest, NC (great town, loved it!) until 2003, and then in Indian Trail (SE of Charlotte) until 2013.

Welcome! If your looking to buy a Boxster here are some tips:

The IMS bearing in engines can fail in 1% (two row bearing) to 8% (single row bearing) in 986 Boxsters usually resulting in complete engine failure. That is perhaps the Achilles heal of the car. If that would keep you up at night, there are replacement parts that make that go away. Price is $1000 or greater depending on your choice.

As the cars are getting mature, certain parts are failing like the air oil separater, but any older model of any make will be similar.

Replacement parts are very, very expensive, particularly internal engine parts.

You will be hard pressed to find a car that's more fun to drive. It reminds me of the go kart I had as a kid, only much more fun. I've never had more fun driving.

If you're looking for a legal addiction, buy a Boxster, you'll grin from ear to ear every time you drive it.
