Boxster Price Check

I am wondering what the current approximate market price for a 1998 Boxster base M/T would be with motor issues (unknown at the moment, just assume it's toast). And the usual wear and tear from a 16 year old car.

Because of the motor conditions price could be <$4K.

I had not kept up on the market and wasn't sure if the spec racing had raised rolling chassis prices or not. Or is is just worthy or being parted out?

-Greg

If the motor is junk expect 3k to 4.5 or so.

There is a 2002 with 12000 miles and a bad engine for 5500 in coastal NC. Looks nice in the pictures, but seems well overpriced.

What would this be worth if it had a running engine?

No motor? Wait a minute... would you be paying me $3-4K to take it or the other way around?

Without a running engine, today's water-cooled Porsches are worth shockingly little.
The pool of buyers are people who mostly likely need to turn their own profit on flipping it or parting it out, so they're not paying anything near top dollar.

I paid 1500 for my 99 3 years ago. But seats were trashed and top had to be replaced. Plus some small issues

Well I happened to have this http://986forum.com/forums/boxster-parts-sale-wanted/50718-2-7l-nikisiled-engine.html

So I bought this:
2002 Porsche Boxster

Now all I have to do is figure out how to get it back to Austin....

Not sure what I will do with it once I marry the two ..... Let the wife and daughter fight over it :-)

Although my daughter seems to like mine, she's got a few years to go before they let her run free on the streets.....

An early model roller, to the main yards in my area, is worth around $2K

The one you bought is across the river from where I grew up and visit frequently.

I paid $2000 for a 2001 S with 37k that ran with a knock. Needed an engine, and had some above average wear for year/mileage.

Mine was in good shape and no real buyers except low-ball offers of $1000 to $1500.

They are good candidates for conversion to Electric, that is what I'm doing to mine right now. They are the new Pontiac Fiero, which was the choice for EV conversion 10 years ago (I had built one of those too), now the top choice is the Porsche Boxster.
