Imho

Maybe I was in awe but had a long chat on the patio of the hotel at Amelia Island with Dan Gurney. I was leaving the next day after a business meeting and he had come in that day for the Concours. When he learned I was from Charlotte we discussed at length the similarities with the post war car culture cottage industry in SoCal and how Charlotte had a similar culture with all the race teams and support industry clustered here. He was funny, engaging, bright and charming. I waited my entire life to meet the guy and certainly was not disappointed. When you consider the evolution in motor racing that he not only witnessed but helped propel, it is quite remarkable.

Laurence McKinley Gould - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My Glaciology professor at the U of A in the early 1970s. He lived in Wilson WY. (in Jackson Hole) in the summer, our home since 1975, after moving from Tucson. First geologist to ever visit Antarctica. A fascinating, funny, humble, and kind gentleman!
