Red side markers?
Someone posted a picture recently of their car with red side markers...does anyone remember who or where? Search yielded zilch.
I can't find any reference to red side markers on a 986. Am I crazy? Just wanted to take another look out of curiosity. They are illegal anyway  I'm working on some custom side markers because I think I can make something better than current market options, but am having difficulties finding the light that I want to use in amber. That got me thinking about the illegal red side markers :D Thanks! |
Hmmmm, I don't remember seeing those. I think all that paint and silicone is starting to affect you

My memory of it is pretty foggy and dream-like... It was on a red car, BTW. Can't remember if it was a 986, 996, 987, etc. I think he said they were foreign. |
Red side markers are part of the tail lights.
Red markers at front would be illegal |

But somebody had red front side markers. |

Oh man, that's bad! :D
I must be crazy because I've spent hours searching here and rennlist with no luck and these are the only 2 Porsche sites that I visit. :( |

It was just bugging me that I couldn't find the post. |
I'm thinking on my car the original lenses, headlights, rear tail lights look fine. If I want a newer look, maybe I should by a 2015 Model..:)

Meanwhile, I've got more orders than I can keep up with  I'm thinking maybe everyone doesn't have the same opinions and that's quite awesome  I wouldn't have it any other way, friend... |

Assuming no issues, in-shop time is usually 3 days. Shipping time varies, of course, but I usually tell people to plan on being without their headlights for 2 weeks. ;)
I also encourage people to DIY if they have some experience with modding, but I completely understand that most don't want to risk ruining their headlights (and there are plenty of opportunities to do so during the retrofit if you're not careful). I need to get my tutorial videos back up soon. |
What is it you do to people's headlights ?

What about using RED VHT NITE SHADES Tail Light Tint****
Over stock sidemarkers? |

Red front side markers are illegal, I was just curious. :) |
That's neat .
I thought front side markers can be any colour as long as they light up orange ? |

The side marker would have a clear lens, but the lights inside would be red when off and amber when lit ;) |
I fitted switchback led bulbs onto Debbie's beetle last year .
Took off the orange and clear front indicator/sidelight lenses , and fitted all clear European lenses . It would be no problem if there was 2 bulbs in there , one for continuous and one for indication but like the porsche it uses continous power to the bulb for sidemarking and switches the signal on/off when the indicarors are on , so I couldn't just fit one clear and one orange . So I installed the switchback led single bulbs . They light up white when she's driving , but flash orange when she indicates . No problems with the cops . They work by changing the colour dependant on a continuous 12v supply or a switched on/off . Pretty neat but they didn't make them to fit porsche side reapeters when I was looking . |
