Update. Garage called said problem has been fixed. Work carried out:

Diagnostics
Spark plugs
Coils
Labour
£680

For an extra £280 can have it fully serviced. Unsure at this stage. I have also been told that I need a new fuel sender unit

£288 labour
£198 parts

Does this seem steep and is it something that can be done by a non specialist?

The fuel sender can definitely be done at home. Hardest part is just getting the locking ring (plastic) off of the sending unit at the top of the tank.

Thanks for the tip. Is there a video or any step by steps on this do you know. I will have a look.

I am pretty competent. However I have brain freeze with this car for some unknown reason. I think it's because you hear all the time 'Porsche = take to specialist'

I am determined to be more hands on with this car. I wanted to do an air filter replacement first to prove I could do something simple. If this is a simple process then I will attempt to do this job also.
