That should work, although the Rockford and JL have different cutout sizes. I would build the box first and then see how the sub fits inside before committing to the hole in the face. You may have to move it around slightly to get it to fit well with respect to the top, bottom, and sides of the box. The depth is less, but the cutout is larger.

Yes, I also saw that the volume for the JL is very similar, so should be pretty close. I can make any minor adjustments required.
