Well H&LL yes! Please post, looks perfect! I've been wanting to do this in fiberglss or something, but was afraid of all the mess. This looks perfect, straight-forward, and exactly what my system needs!!

It's not too bad, my girlfriend is short. I'm 6' and when I sit there my feet touch it, but I'm not uncomfortable by any means. I actually prefer to have good footing in a sports car when I'm the passenger.

Yeah, I will post pictures, directions, dimensions, drawings, templates, etc. I cut mine out using a table saw and my CNC router, but you could easily do it with a table saw and jig saw. You might even be able to get away with using a circular saw instead of a table saw, assuming you can tilt the blade enough.
Edit: Now that I think about it, you do need a circular saw as well.

Perfect, I have access to all those tools (except CNC router), so should be good to go. Thanks for posting more details, i'm pretty excited as I really like your solution!

I used the same sub in my fiberglass enclosure. Running an Alpine momoblock sub amp to it. Totally rocks.

I got most of the DIY instructions and templates finished today. If I get out of work at a decent time tomorrow I should be able to finish things up.

Custom Fiberglass box with the back molded to match the contour of the area perfectly. This made sure that I could have the necessary volume and be as far back as possible.

That should work, although the Rockford and JL have different cutout sizes. I would build the box first and then see how the sub fits inside before committing to the hole in the face. You may have to move it around slightly to get it to fit well with respect to the top, bottom, and sides of the box. The depth is less, but the cutout is larger.

Yes, I also saw that the volume for the JL is very similar, so should be pretty close. I can make any minor adjustments required.
