Porsche Parade 2014 Monterey. CA

PCA has posted the schedule and registration on their web site. June 15 - June 21

Who's going ?

cas951 04-04-2014 07:34 PM

Already registered. This will be my 2nd Parade and really enjoyed the 1st one.

I think Monterey is the perfect location for a Porsche Parade. Highway 1 to Carmel and Big Sur or Head North to Santa Cruz, Half Moon Bay or San Francisco/Bay Area.

cas951 04-04-2014 07:53 PM

Here's a list of activities and schedule that will take place for the parade.

husker boxster 04-05-2014 04:06 AM

I'm driving Sydney out (the CSS). Really looking forward to it. Should be tons of fun.

cas951 04-05-2014 07:30 AM

That will be a nice drive for you. One of the things I enjoyed most going to a Parade/Escape is getting there. We normally do a group drive.

We should see if we can do a 986 Forum lunch meet. We could drive on Highway 1 to Nepenthe Restaurant. Great drive and the Rest has great views.

Couple of miles before Big Sur going North. They open at 11:30 am for lunch.

cas951 04-05-2014 02:26 PM

Nepenthe is about 25 miles south of Carmel. If you're coming from O.C area your best route would be to take the 101 and take Route 46 West to Highway 1 towards Cambria.
Nepenthe Restaurant, Big Sur, California

Another must see is Rocky Point Rest. They are about 10 miles south of Carmel.

Unfortunately I will have no time this year for such a long drive. It is a 4-day drive for us, like the one I did when I bought the car back in 2010 (drove from Santa Monica, CA to Ottawa, Canada). Hell of a trip. Really amazing drive. Next PCA one was also announced (the location) so definitely going to the 2015 one.

jim_hoyland 04-09-2014 07:01 PM

I'd like to see whether some of the Boxster owners would like to gather for lunch or other during Porsche Parade.

Our club stayed up there last year and found a good meeting place with good parkings.
The Kula Ranch Restraurant 3295 Dunes Road, Marina, CA 93933 is located on the ocean side of 101 in an area noted for it's sand dunes. Marina is a 10 min drive from Monterey. It's still early, I know; just wanted to throw that out

I'm game and I had the same idea. Let's keep this going untill then and we should go ahead and pick a meeting spot. My schedule for parade week is open since I've done those tours so many times locally.

jim_hoyland 04-10-2014 04:26 AM

Good to hear interest; I'll post a separate "Get Together" thread as we get closer to to Parade.

tomblkboxster 04-19-2014 05:35 PM

I'm in the Bay Area and plan to pop down for a few of the events. I go down for the usual August car events.

Looks like this is your first post? Welcome to the forum.

Registration for the Parade is now over 1100. This is probably the record to date.

Jake Raby 04-20-2014 07:02 PM

Great venue for sure.. I was asked to be a technical presenter, but respectfully refused..

Pismo is 15 minutes from my house... I will probably hit the road by 10:00 and stop at Ragged Point first, just north of San Simeon (nice views), which should be around 11:00. Then Nepenthe should be about 2 1/2 to 3 hours from there. I will keep an eye out.

Man I'm tempted to drive south and meet you guys. Part of the fun going to Parade or Escape is the group drive there. With Parade in my backyard I only have to drive just over an hour and it's a routine drive for us here to Monterey. Drove to SLC Parade 2012, Flagstaff for Escape. It was a blast driving there as a group.

Hope to see you guys in Monterey.

I'll be in car #264

My brother (black 944 turbo S) and I will be sharing a garage, so I'm sure we'll meet.

I've driven L-S many times via Johannes van Overbeek. ;)

This has been my "training" video for the proper lines.

I've also watched vids from Caymans to catch what gears they're running.

I'll be driving the green Cayman S Sport.

mcomet 06-12-2014 09:04 PM

For anyone leaving Bay Area after the weekend probably early Monday morning I'll be heading down in the 981 CS just for one day. Planning to see the concours and then maybe do some fun driving down to Nepenthe and back... Then back home...should be a loooong day....heh. Couldn't convince the wife to go along for anything. :/

jim_hoyland 06-13-2014 05:52 PM

My Boxster blew the water pump so I'll be driving the 914. It's copper colored. right now I'm in Cambria at the Cambria Palms; plan on leaving here by 10am and stopping at Nepenthe around 11:30 or so. Should be at Raggity Point around 11ish

Going to volunteering for the tours to Canepe Design and Big Sur, plan on staying at M6 in Marina. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1402710736.jpg

Sorry to hear about the Boxster.

While in Cambria checkout Santa Rosa Creek rd. It's off Main st and head east. Beautiful country road drive. It feeds back to Hwy 46.

Did you sign up for the Boxster Register photo shoot on Sunday before the welcome party? I signed up but I don't know if i'll make it in time. I volunteered to be part of the Welcome party and my shift is 1-5pm Sunday.

I am by now means Johannes von Overbeck, but some time ago I put these three instruction videos together, if you have never driven there they might come in handy.

I rode a bike a couple of miles up Santa Rosa Creek Road. Pretty cool back there. Didn't sign up for Boxster photo shoot; will be at the welcome party sunday for sure.

Jager - is it just cleaning going on or do they have vacuums and water available? My car is full of bugs and brake dust. Should be arriving around 2-3pm tomorrow. Currently in Reno.

cas951 06-14-2014 08:05 PM

I didn't see any water hose or vacuum cleaners in the garage. Everyone there was using their own equipment.

Check this out. How's this for hardcore preparation.

Nice. I can't wait to get down there and see the 919 which I assume will be there... Been watching live stream of some of Le Mans... That car sounds like a space ship when it down shifts heh.

Concours prep...looks fun. I should have gone to a tech workshop just for the info...DEFINTIELY not entering hahaha

I believe there is a separate wash area. Not sure about the vacuums, I did not see any in the prep area.

I am sending you a PM

I walked around and found the wash point.
It's located by bldg 5. Follow the signs towards
The hotel registration and PCA welcome tent.
You will see signs for wash area from there. The
Wash area is small and have only two hoses and 7 parking
stalls.

It's a 2008 Limited edition. 250 base and 250 S made for this run. The color is inspired from the GT3RS. The owners name is Lee from Illinois. He's mainly in the Boxster Register forum.
