Maybe you could try backing out the stand-offs a turn or two to put a bit more pressure on the trunk when it is closed. If you try this then make sure the front edge of the trunk is still slightly lower than the back edge of the bumper cover, otherwise you'll get a loud howling noise from the air rushing over the gap when you are on the highway.

I tried that. It didn't help.

The part I found in the frunk was a rubber - I will upload the picture if I can find the part. I think that may be the part that is responsible to the initial pop of the hood. I don't know. Perhaps someone else in the forum knows.
