I actually put an order with my local dealer in St. Louis at the 1996 St. Louis Auto Show.
They had a banner of the Boxster Prototype that had been shown at the Detroit auto show a few years before.
They took my deposit but I did't hear back from them till Feb. '97 when they told me that the car would be built.
I then had to wait lone full year, till Feb. '98 when my car was delivered.
And, we've lived happily ever after.
