Are you a Driver or a Hay-Rider?
I would like to start this poll and ask if your a Driver, or prefer to ride along.
Which car would you prefer: 987 S 997 S w/X-51 997 GT3 (hopefully there will be one shortly) 997 Turbo KRZ |
My thoughts:
987 S: Drivers Car with awesome sunshine ability 997 S w/X-51 package: Grand touring car 997 GT3: Drivers Car. Only thing purer is a 997 Porsche Cup Car 997 Turbo: Very fast grand touring car KRZ |
The thing I love the most about the 997 is that its driving the price of the 996 down.
The GT3 is useless for daily driving, The X-51 package is a ripoff on a grand scale ($20 grand and no significant increase in HP/Torque??) I guess I would go with the Turbo. Having little to no experience with driving cars with FI, something new would be cool. Anyone ever driven an S2000 with FI? |

Hi,
Silly Poll, I'm not gonna Play... Happy Motoring!... Jim'99 |
forced induction (i hate turbo lag, and SC's sound funny).
|
997 GT3... I would buy a track just so i can drive it to the limit everyday...
|
I want the new Turbo 997 with variable whatchamacallits. I just want to find the straightest desert road and HAUL ASS!
|
Ok, I'll bite...what is a Hay-Rider?

Basically along for the ride. The car driving you (intrusive computer thinking). The Mercedes SLR is a perfect example. It hauls ass and my mom can drive can make repeated sub 4 second runs to 60mph. I prefer the 997 GT3: NA (Naturally Aspirated, track car) KRZ |
I will take the Boxster S.
 |
I'm a rag top guy. Got to stay with the Box S. Can I vote twice?
|
I will take the Boxster S. TOO
 |
Speaking of GT3 as a track car, I read this on another site by a GT3/Cayman owner
"also, many are saying that in a few years, GT3's will drop to 70k and will be a bargin to pick up for a track car. with all due respect, what do you mean by TRACK car. i put close to 6k track miles on my in ONE year and anothe rennlister logged over 10k track miles in ONE year. with this type of track mileage, you will be very very SHOCKED on how much consumable you are chewing through. i have a receipt of $4k or so just on BRAKE PADS. you dont want to know how much i burned on pilot sport cups, rotors, the freaking chin lip spoiler that i buy by the dozen (i am NOT exaggerating). most ppl with this much track miles pretty much killed the LSD on the car. to really get it right, you need a PMS or paul guard LSD. that's another very large bill. i burn about $300 on fuel per track day and this is on cheap gas. i have a buddy burning about $500/day on 100 oct. that's 15k on track fuel ALONE every year for my buddy. so the purchase price of the GT3 is really peanuts. it's the consumables, if you REALLY are talking about using it as a track car." |
