Best case scenario: Some fuses, diodes, and relays are blown.

Worst case: The above, plus the alternator is toast, maybe the voltage regulator. You might have some warning lights, and the gauges may not work properly.

In your case, I'd have a professional look at it. The car should start with the battery installed correctly, but I'd check with the professional first.

Finally installed the new battery - this time the right polarity - Thanks Y'all for the guidance. Fancy not noting the tiny + and - impressions on the ends of each cable

Anyway, the following steps happened.

1. The windows wound down a bit when I tried to open the doors - normal.
2. I could lower the spoiler with the button on the console
3. Did not see the Radio come on - perhaps a blown fuse - Was unable to determine which on on the tiny booklet.
4. PSM Warning error came but once I cranked the motor and it started right up and I drove around the block "slowly" it went off.
5. The Airbag light remained on.
6. I got a Battery/Generator Error in Red with an "!" on the dash.
7. Heard a not so normal sound for the first few minutes when the engine was running and then all normal.

I suspect the Alternator/Diode is toast! Off I went to RAC Performance in Carrolton TX for them to have a look - Don't have the "you know what" to further poke around the car now! BTW, any idea how much an alternator costs?

Hopefully it's just the Alternator and a few fuses - Hans at RAC Performance will get back to me tomorrow to say what's the damage - I call this "Stupid Tax" which I think every Wannabe DIY will have to pay!

Will keep you all posted on what happens.

Cheers

SR
