Dropped the boxster off at RAC

to get the RoW flash today. We'll see how it goes, it always makes me nervous to drop my car off at a shop.

That's pretty much all.

you'll be fine. I did it to my car - took all of 5 minutes. no downside that I can see.

allowed me to delete the secondary air system (less clutter in the engine bay, less to break, 20 lbs of 'stuff' removed) and put an aftermarket exhaust system on. when you're working on the car in dirty coveralls you can start it without having to get in and depress the clutch.

Ok...I did it because I am catless, and I have some SAI code popping up from time to time.

Out of curiosity...when emissions equipment is plugged in, does it show not ready codes?

Ive had other tunes on other cars do that.

I don't have to deal with emissions testing where I live, but gonolaus on this forum went to a row flash and passed his tests (in chicago; don't know if testing differs from state to state); perhaps check with him.

Ill be honest, I looked at a 996 turbo at RAC, and didn't like the sales guy. Sort of a bad deal, didn't want me to drive the car, didn't think I was serious, then stated certain parts were on it, but was unwilling to verify.
BUT...I have heard excellent reviews of their service dept. Hans has cordially responded to all my BS emails, and seems well priced on stuff.

I have high hopes (I did buy a 996 turbo but not from them) I'll probably have them do the clutch when I need it.

I would have parked the 996 Turbo you did buy in the sales guy's parking spot.

What's the hourly labor rate at RUF?

I thought about it. Lol. I don't remember the hourly but got the clutch estimate on the 996 they were about 350 cheaper than the nearest priced.

So weird thing... The shop told me rgr boxster is done. He said he encountered something very odd. He said the program file on the car was a row flash for a non s tip tronic car

My car is a an s with a 6 spd and the cel was on due to secondary air injection code and no cats code.

Anyone have any thoughts? I can't get over there until Saturday to pick it up.

Finally picked it up yesterday. Gas leak at the house and then getting the flu took priority sadly.

Im impressed with the shop...they even washed and vacuumed the car...and man did it need it.

I have driven about 75 miles so far and no CEL. Is that enough mileage to get through the OBD checks?

Yes. No probs with emission testing. It shows all systems ready. Best 100$ I ever spent

I cant really comment whether or not it increases any type of performance. I don't drive the car enough to know. And coming from my mod'd 996 to the boxster, well they are different cars.

Mines not in my sig but I'm running k24/20 billets and all supporting mods plus meth. I admit I haven't had it on a dyno but a guy in Houston with the same set up same tuner trapped 134 in the quarter. Should be good for about 600 awhp.

Oww yeah. Never tried to compare to boosted cars. Stock 99 996 to box with 3.4 only
anyway. 600 sounds very tempting.
