Storing car for a few months, what steps to take?

Hi,
I live in the North east, finally got an SUV for the winter. Will put my 2007 boxster in the garage until March. Are there any steps I need to take for long term storage? Should I disconnect the battery or anything else?
Thanks!

If you're talking about early March, then don't do anything as it's really only 3 weeks away. When I store mine for the winter, I put it on a float charger, over fill the tires a bit and fill up the gas tank. If I haven't changed the oil since the beginning of the season I change that too. I store mine from October - April this way and have never had any issues.

You're talking a very short time period. My cars have always been stored from late Oct/early Nov until April. Fill gas tank about 3/4 or so with quality fuel (no ethanol preferred)...higher the octane, the better. Place battery on a maintainer-do not disconnect, as you will lose all info in the ECU and reset to default; ECU will need to re-learn all settings and become "ready" in the emissions cycle. Tires don't flat spot anymore in that short of time, but a slight over-inflation doesn't hurt. Fresh oil is preferred, as older oil contains contaminants just sitting with moisture that doesn't get burned off. Make sure car is clean if you are going to cover it.

As Perfectlap indicated, there are many posts covering this topic over the years if you do a search.

A battery maintainer is a piece of hardware? Can anyone post a link to one? Thanks

Not to mention last week. So 1st step is to search the forum for info on topic of your choosing!

Lurky, here you go:

Amazon.com: Battery Tender 021-0123 Battery Tender Junior 12V Battery Charger: Automotive

They also sell a cigarette lighter adapter on amazon from the same company that's even more convenient. Since our cars have an "always on" cigarette lighter, we can just plug in the charger into the cigarette lighter socket and you're topping off your batter when it dips below the recommended level.

I have used this brand for a couple of years. No need to pay $125 or more for the Porsche one.

I would just drive it for a half hour every 2 weeks, on any nice days you get, it's not worth the prep for less than two months.

I don't know why all the added responses (including mine ), Dave S. answered the question perfectly! However, that said, I have to agree, a search would have been nice.
