Your top speed?

What's your top speed in the Box, then in any other car?

148 in Box, Mojave desert. I swear I heard it sigh as I let off, too chicken to get 150.

The ranger and pinto are not worth recalling.

Frodo 02-02-2014 04:25 AM

138 mph. Allegheny National Forest, western PA.

The French Dude 02-02-2014 04:27 AM

a tiny 125... :p

Jamesp 02-02-2014 04:31 AM

3, The others are not worth mentioning.

My 119 feels slow compared to some of these and it was on the track. I have accidentally hit 90 going up onramps before, especially the long ones. Then I look down... Yikes! Don't want to get a ticket. But it feels so smooth...

BRAN 02-02-2014 05:38 AM

2.7L --> Max Speed almost 270kmh or 168mph --> Autobahn

and still not the fastest on the left lane :D

heliguy 02-02-2014 06:10 AM

I'm a paltry 123mph, on the other hand I haven't had a moving violation in 25 years.

Joe B 02-02-2014 06:11 AM

Well, it wasn't in the Boxster, but I hit 170 MPH on the straight at Miller Motorsports Park (only 3,000' long) on my 2005 MV Agusta F4 1000S motorcycle. The world goes by very quickly at 170 MPH on a motorcycle, especially when you need to slow down for the next corner ! At least I didn't need to worry about getting a ticket ;).

mump 02-02-2014 06:39 AM

176 on the GPS.... legally.

Chuck W. 02-02-2014 06:52 AM

130 MPH on a deserted Hwy 99.

LAP1DOUG 02-02-2014 07:19 AM

Don't trust all those speedometers guys. My speedometer says 140 down the backstretch at Road Atlanta, but Aim GPS says only 130.

Topless 02-02-2014 07:36 AM

127.7 mph GPS, entering Turn 2 Auto Club Speedway Roval. Car was just as calm and planted as could be.

Porsche9 02-02-2014 07:41 AM

175 on the autobahn in rented Carrera S. I've only had the Box S for a few months and hit about a 100 at the DE I did yesterday at Bondurant's west track. The instructors GT3 I rode in we hit 120 on the same straight.

gregdacat 02-02-2014 07:49 AM

I don't get too involved with top speeds on interstates or highways. That's not why I bought the car. I am a "twisty" guy. Out where I live there is a deserted rural uphill section of SR-22 that is about 5 miles long and super twisty. There are multiple yellow diamond signs showing the suggested speed limit as 15mph or 25mph. I did the route at an average of 64mph once by keeping it in 3rd and letting the engine (and gravity) serve as my brake. (and I stayed in my lane the entire time.)

jsceash 02-02-2014 08:14 AM

On track 158 recorded on a Traqmate. Fairly modified Boxster, suspension, Brakes, intake, exhaust, 3.6, 5 speed, NT-01 tires. The speed isn't the nerve part the braking is back to about 60 coming to the infield track.

schnellman 02-02-2014 08:46 AM

176 going from Wiesbaden to Frankfurt am Main in my 911 Carrera. But, I got my doors blown off by a yellow Countach. He went by me like I was standing still.

On the #505 just south of the #5 in California, no other traffic visible. A BMW of some kind passed me when I was doing about 80. I passed him back. He passed me again with a smile. I was sure I had more top end and stepped on it. About to go by him I looked down & saw 140 and thought 'they will take my car from me for good' and eased off. Now I wish I had risked it for another 15 seconds. It had plenty left and the speed was hardly noticeable in the way it rode.
