Floor Mats

Wondering if anyone has any experience with aftermarket floor mats like Weathertech. Are they really worth the expense.

Love my original mats but would want to save them......

Any inputs are highly appreciated.

I put the Michelin mats from Walmart, I cut them to fit the floor profile of the 986 and I like them!

I bought mine from these folks:
Floor Mats

You can customize them anyway you want.

How's the fit? Is there Velcro on the back?

Mom's 987 has the low tub-shaped Weathertech mats. Great fit, holds all the dirt and sand (water, too, I'd imagine).

They have clips that attach to the seat mechanism. They don't move.

I use Lloyd Mats. Customizable in terms of colors and logos. Available on lots of sites including the 986Forum sponsor, Pelican Parts. Somewhat expensive but OEM quality, fit, and appearance.

When I checked Lloyd's out, the logo wasn't really exactly the PORSCHE logo, it looked like a knock-off lettering job to me. So I ordered Genuine Porsche.

I didn't like the fastening hooks so I bought OEM.

Still debating on what to use to replace the floor mats. Thinking of cutting a Michellin mat to fit also. Suncoast usually has sales on the OEM mats for a great price if your not in need of the black ones. So if your matts are any color besides black, I would go Oem for 30-40 bucks.

Just my 2 cents on using rubber mats.
Yes, a standard floor mat will get dirty and wet, but it will also dry again by itself and any water in the carpet underneath will also evaporate. Rubber floor mats are intended to keep the water out of your carpet. Unfortunately water trapped underneath will not evaporate and nasty things will start happening. A normal floor mat and running the air conditioner when the interior gets wet is much better imho.
I still remember some of the seventies cars that had rubber 'carpet'. Usually the floor just started to rot through after a couple of years.

I had WeatherTech Rubber floor mats in the 986, really liked them. In fact, ordering WeatherTech mats is usually the first thing I do after getting a new or used car. Pull them out every few weeks, hose them off and throw them back in after air drying. On an older Porsche (WeatherTech did not offer mats for it) I ordered Cocomats since they were kind of retro looking, very happy with them also:

I have the mats with "PORSCHE" embroidered in a way that is parallel to the Door Sill. Is that original?

Checked Suncoast and they seem to have a Sea Blue set of $30 - Any comments how it would look on a Dark Metallic Blue Exterior and Grey Interior?

Yes....I would think so. My original mats that came with the car are that way. I also bought a used set from a car with 500miles on it that looks exactly the same. Plan to keep the newer set in the garage and replace my worn drivers side mat. Need a picture of it?

Here is a picture of my black mats. This is the replacement I bought from someone turning there car into a track rat. Same as the ones in the car with less mileage.

Here is the deal being offered by ****************************************************. The gray or the blue might work for you. I would try them both. You could always send them back. At this price, what a deal. There is even a special on the driver's side mat too which is odd.
