What is your wife or SO's REAL opinion about your Boxster?
 

Be painfully honest.

My wife has not driven it in 1.5 years of ownership. Says she does not mind, but it comes up. If she's not interested in it at all, oh well. She has no interest in my other hobbies either really..

She says she's into it but when ask if she wants to drive always says no. Putting the top down means she is doing me a favor. Then again I tolerated a number of cars she's has had ( New Beetle, c230 coupe, Grand Cherokee). Been married for 20 year and in the grand scheme a non-issue. Hey she lets me do all the driving when we go to Germany so I'm good.

My wife is always asking to drive it to work. "Gotta keep the battery charged, you know."

My wife isn't comfortable driving a stick, but loves to go on rides. Has recently suggested that she would like her own automatic boxster...

Hence, why I am in the market for a Tiptronic, 2000-2004 base or S. Perfer sub 100k miles.

My wife enjoys riding in it, and drives it occasionally, but gets a little nervous at times. She drives a stick well, but says this is the hardest stick she's ever driven. She does say that if we get one with a PDK she'd be all over it. she also doesn't care for the expense, but tolerates it.

My wife was skeptical when I bought it. At first the car intimidated her, but then she drove it and said she was shocked that it is so easy to drive (and mine's a 6 speed manual). She likes it a lot more than our old Triumph TR8 and loves the automatic soft top. It's great because I don't get hassled about owning it (1 of 5 cars), but kind of a bummer when I talk about possibly selling it and buying something like a Corvette because she likes this one so much more.

It is definitely not her cup of tea. Being in our 60's she finds it hard to get into and would not leave town in it. She likes her 2002 Camry coz it never goes wrong, costs next to nothing to run it except gas.

I am into the 3rd year of ownership. When June of 2015 comes up it is time to review my car status. Good thread this one. Yep she tolerates it. I like driving it by myself so I can drive the crap out of it on suitable minor roads with twisties...:)

If I'm not driving it my wife is!

My beautiful wife is a sport. She has no problem driving the Boxster (or the Alfa). Last year we sold the family truckster and went a month or two where she drove my S daily...no complaints. She's now driving a 2004 350Z roadster.

We currently have four, two seat convertibles, as the good lord intended.

BTW, our teenage boys all have 4 seat cars!

My wife greatly prefers the 996 C2 to my earlier street Boxster. My wife will ONLY drive manuals (what a wonderful woman!) so that's not an issue, but she hates convertibles because they mess up her hair.

She LOVES it! :) Everything about it: the looks, the power, the handling.

It's the first car I've owned that she's been in and hasn't actually screamed and told me to slow down. There was some white knuckle driving on our last PCA Sunday drive, and she was calm as a cucumber. And when I tell her there's a good deal on a Tip nearby, she shows interest......a little too much interest if you ask me.

And I'm not just sayin'.........

Mine does not like to ride in it because it is too low and is hard to get in and out of for her, and the microswitch in the passenger door lock assembly has failed so the window won't stay dropped, which means you have to manually roll the window down a little before getting in and out of it or else it hits. it is a hassle and I need to fix it...

Her kids love it and request that I pick them up from school in it as much as possible :)

She drives stick and her DD right now is a 5 speed Tacoma, and she has driven this one before, but it is not her cup of tea...

A Porsche is a driver's car. It is just not comfortable for a passenger, in my opinion.

It's balanced and built for the driver.

When I ride in hubby's 911, I get "Porsche neck" from all the G-forces and whipping around corners. He doesn't even feel it. Also, he doesn't have a wind screen, so when the top's down, my long hair is in a blender. The clutch is ENTIRELY too hard to push for a long period of time. All the 911's have been like that, hard on the knee. I like the car overall, but I don't love it.

When he rides in my Boxster, he doesn't like it. He thinks it's just too small and it's boring to be a passenger. Also, he complains that I drive too fast. :D

she likes it , drives it, but is afraid to mess it up. Then this summer after 7k maintenance, ( new front end, ims, rear brakes, rotors flywheel etc.)which took 55 days back and forth to the shop chasing rattles and me being very blue without the black box. Recently she has said in jest " I hate that car". Just today after 2 hrs driving I was on the phone and told her this car is really nice I love it for what its worth. her .....no comment, super cool, hot wife i am a lucky blessed man. Reliable not durable PORSCHE ! p.s. you know what Sig F. says about jokes " behind every joke is a speck of truth.

Not married, but girlfriend of three years- loves it and is always driving it.:(

The wife can't drive a stick. Bonus.

In the beginning my wife viewed the 996 as a race car and was very reluctant to drive it. After one drive in the boxster s, she loves it. we have a 996, 987, and a 986 and she always goes for the 986.

I don't have a wife, so I don't have to listen to anything she likes or doesn't like.

Consequently, I have 4 Boxsters, and am looking for a 5th! :D

Since I'm transitioning from my Boxster to a 993 sunroof coupe, my S.O. is quite sad about losing access to a convertible. She doesn't drive stick so she wouldn't be driving either P-Car.

For the record, she's right. A sunroof does not equal a soft-top.

My wife enjoys my Box until the seatbelt tensioner engages & starts compressing body parts.

My wife liked it, but wasn't really into the top being down (hair). Now that it's pretty much a race car, there's no riding in it and it's just kinda tolerated. She loves the 996, though, which was the plan

My wife has never been crazy about riding on the Harley, so I was quite surprised when she fell in love with the Boxster. We take several two or three day trips every years. The benefit of being empty-nesters.

She is more excited about the 944 turbo coming next week!

20th wedding anniversary getaway
 

On our 20th wedding anniversary getaway last year driving from Durango, over Coal Bank pass, over Molass Pass, through Silverton, over Red Mountain Pass, through Ouray, to Crested Butte for the night and then down through Lake City and Creede and over Wolf Creek Pass, when we first pulled out on the highway from our house the first words out of my wife's mouth were, "Okay, what is the driving schedule?" :) Love at first sight!:cheers: We had the 986 for two months up to that point.

It's a necessary evil, a toy for boys. She does like to "arrive" at parties in the Box but generally she is not into it, I drive entirely too fast :D, and she gets Porsche neck and motion sickness easily. A little irrational exuberance with honey in the right seat may result in my dash being decorated with ABC breakfast. It happened once in the Lexus. :(

My wife's opinion is "yep, it's a car".

Mine enjoys going fast and she loves to hear the exhaust. The biggest issue is the hair, but for the most part she is pretty good about it. She would be happier if it was a Tip, but I just couldn't do that. At some point she needs a new car, maybe she needs a 996tt tip?;)

I'm surprised, my wife likes the box much more than my m3s.

Basically, she hates it, an has only driven it once, and never on her own, and doesn't want to drive it. She also pretty much refuses to ride in it.

To sum up, she

1. Hates a convertible - doesn't like wind on her face or in her hair.
2. Hates a stick shift. She can drive a stick, but really dislikes them.
3. Hates the lack of visibility with the convertible top up.

Like a few other say, great for me, too bad for her....

My wife loves driving a stick but has only driven the Boxster maybe twice. Then I can also say the same thing about my RX8. This from a woman who has 150+ track days as a corner worker at Road America. At least she lets me buy these cars so I can't complain.

Unmarried, but my future wife has to at least like cars. God forbid the day of the SUV & mommy-mobile. I think I can settle if she likes the H1, or G-wagen. :)

Wife loves the car but wanted an auto. She can drive a standard...but would prefer a auto....so she rarely drives it. But she does love the car/convertible functionality.

I tell ya, I get no respect.

My wife is a car and motorcycle fanatic and plans trips for us in the Boxster just so we can run the twisties. Bad thing is she is an enabler and we are always looking for new gadgets, gizmos and things. Oh well, I will endure somehow.
