Black rear storage box. Who needs one?

If you want rear speakers, you gotta buy one of these as well as the speaker kit to do it right:

These boxes can go for $250 or more on Ebay, and they're $500+ through the parts department at your local stealership. Just thought I'd throw that info in for buyers.

I got mine off ebay for $120 because it had red carpet. Black carpeted ones always go for more because it's a popular interior color and black goes with all the other colors well too.

I think I paid something like 249.00 for my speaker kit.

I attempted to dye it black with fabric dye. It's dark reddish black. It didn't work completely, but no one has commented on it because it's not nearly as noticeable as a red one and the top is down 90% of the time.

One day, I'll pull it off and take it to a trim shop and have them put black carpeting on it. I've got bigger issues and concerns right now.

Jeff, don't you have a red interior?

I have red. There is a local guy on craigslist who was parting out a wrecked 2000 S with a black interior, or he was willing to sell the entire car for $3,500. Thought if his box was good and I bought it I could swap with you. When I checked his ad today to contact him to see what good parts he has the ad had been removed, so he might have sold the entire car.

I would be open to this, but the red carpet on mine has been really funkified with that black dye...which made it rough and splotchy. If I had not created this look, I'd never have put it in my Porsche. Hey, if you can get a black one, put it on Ebay and make a tidy profit and then by any other color you can find and have a trim shop glue on black carpet for cheap. That's what I'd do if I were you.
