Bolting on a used bumper of the same color is an option.

I've seen some on ebay but they all have their defects too.

You can recondition a 986 bumper? Its right on a flex point so I don't think it will be possible.

Where should I take it, independent or dealership? Insurance is going to pay

My bumper cover was replaced with a 'used,' unpainted cover that had minor repairs to it. The body shop primed and painted it to match my car's colors. I don't know where the boundary is between a cover that can be reconditioned and one that is done for. I probably saved about $500 going with a used cover.

Don't know anything about this one but if it is the right color and in good condition....

The price might include the reinforcement bar and shocks, might be able to get it for less without those parts.

Get the check, buy something like this, install it yourself is what I would do.

I looked on ebay earlier, this is a nice one.. the right color without too many imperfections... I will be repainting chips in the car anyways so this would be perfect. Let me get a check from the insurance first...
