Black or Red Wheels?

I have two sets of track wheels that I've Plasti-dipped in black so I thought that I'd try the 3rd set in red just to see what it looks like.

Do you prefer Black or Red?

RED. It's actually not bad at all. Matches the rest perfectly

Nice ride btw, that car looks fun

The Red add a "pop" to the appearance.

Either way works, but I prefer the black.
The red rims are a bit busy to my eye.

I would do a light gold metallizer coat over the matte black. against the red calipers It will give your car the JPS Lotus look and match your gold number decals.

As you can see by the video below the end result is absolutely nuts

I'd have to say red in this case.

Yes! This was my planned next step! I'll have to order the gold, they didn't carry it in stock at my local store.

I think its cool that you can do this for peanuts. I think you might need the glossifier too though. I ended up with rough texture when I applied the metalizer over the anthracite grey for my fixed gear track bike.

My Carrera five spokes have a similar scheme but it was done with actual permanent paint. First coat of matte black and then a special gun metal color over that. The end result is like 550 anniversary wheels but with a deep metallic finish.
Except it cost way more than two cans of paint. Plasti dip is awesome for track wheels. If you end up off course, just peel off and paint again.
That special solution DipYourWheels sells sounds good too, you can redo just a section by using the solution to thin the paint down instead of having to pull off the whole layer.

Yes, it is amazing how cheap this can be! Thanks for the tips, I'll post up some pic's when I get the other set gold.
