Fabspeed cat delete pipe question.

Pipes came in. Beautiful.

Why two ports or tappings on each? Looks 1/2" thread?

Just plug those? The rear cats have no sensors.

Not 1/2", not 3/8".

Should be same as o2 sensors & I think that's 18mm course thread. Can't imagen why they have 2 bungs. 97-99 Box needs 1. My Fabspeeds don't have any. Maybe they are making 1 part to fit all 986's. Do the mounting flanges have 3 holes or slots for multi-fit? Maybe you got a Cayenne set? I would think they would include hardware to block the bungs if desired.

Box says 97-99 stock muffler. PN 986 L&R. They look like they will fit right in mine. I know where to find bolts to fit tomorrow but that means one more day without my pipes. :/

Sounds like they just are making them more universal. Just plug the holes you don't need.

Where are you getting the hardware in SLC?

Nut & Bolt Supply (Bolt & Nut?)

They will have 18mm. I can always make the bolt shorter.

Well, actually, i think the Fabspeed look like they might be a better overall quality from your picts. I get my Top speed's in the mail today and will post some picts for compare / contrast.

Do keep us posted as to your progress!! Oh, and picts of the install would be GREATLY appreciated...

Timco...
Make sure you have the correct pipe for each side - they are different lengths.
When I fitted mine a couple of years ago, I thought my pipes where too long and was ready to send them back.
The trick is to uncouple the other end of the pipe (flange) and fit the pipe into the muffler first, then the flange end second. After fitting it all up, I think I had about a 1/4" gap @ the flange which pulled up easily when tightening the bolts.
Your plug bolts should really be stainless not black steel (and obviously as short as possible so as not to block the gas flow), otherwise they will corrode badly in the pipes.....

I loosened the exhaust and no luck. I had to weld an extension on each side and it fit great. You were right, they are different lengths. One side needed 2" and the other 1".

Putting tires on now!

I'll find SS plugs and swap them when I do the clutch when the weather turns. I did machine them down very short.

Old cats are 9lb 12oz each. New pipes are 3lb 12oz each.

Sure makes the muffler growl and kind of slap more at low rpm when you step on it. At higher rpms no real difference in sound.

More felt HP for sure! But not the leap that the UD pulley gave me.

They used to include a slip fit SSextension pipe, maybe they had to cheapen them to compete with Topspeed. I assume they droped the $500 price.

This is the Top Speed Test pipe. no bung holds, and two section, presumably to help with fitment...

As of last week, best price i was able to find on Fabspeed was $479.

I paid $179 shipped for the Topspeed set. We'll see how fitment goes...
