IMS Retrofit Tool Kit

Hey folks ....

if a mechanic/shop is doing my IMS upgrade, do I need to order the IMS Retrofit Tool kit for them also (the one that costs $250)?

Or would any decent shop already have the necessary tools to do the upgrade (im talking about after the tranny has been removed) ... so all i need to supply is the actual LN Eng IMS retrofit bearing + RMS ....

since im not in the US .. i will be ordering the new IMS bearing myself and giving it to the shop to install for me.... im just worried there is some "proprietary" stuff in the Tool kit that mandates buying it ... in order to fit the new IMS.

If they don't have the tool kit its screaming that they've never done the job before.
Its not wise to be the guinea pig on this procedure.

Defo haven't done it before. In fact...I've check in hk.... 2 Porsche specialist and main porsche distributor... dont even know what this problem is.

That's not to say they are no good... they can.break the car to bits and put it all back together no issue.... just that local consumers has nearly zero awareness of the IMS issues.

So I guess answering my own question... I'll order the toolkit also.

And make sure the shop gives the toolkit back to you when they are finished. You should be able to sell it on (it can be used many times) and recoup some $$.
