2.5 vs 2.7

ive heard that the 2.5 has a better 0-60 then the 2.7.IM NOT SURE THOUGH. this may sound stupid but did the 2.7 engine add alittle weight or no,is that why..

Well, Porsche has increased the 2.7L output a few times. First it had 217hp, then 225hp and now 236hp. The 2.5L car was lighter but I think the 2.7L is slightly quicker in all forms.

I don't know all the particulars, but I will say this: I've always thought my 2.5 was spirited, but wondered if a 2.7 would be faster. So, I drove a forum member's 2.7 and did not find it much faster if at all. BTW, this was scientifically supported with my butt-dyno or the seat of the pants experience.

And there you have it.

I don't think there's much difference. Factory HP was 204 in the 2.5 vs. 217 in the first 2.7. Torque is 181 lb-ft vs. 192 lb-ft.

The gear ratios are the same except for 4th and 5th where the 2.7 has a higher ration 4th and a lower ratio 5th (barely) than the 2.5.

The difference is much greater on Paper than you'll ever experience in Real Life!
