Emergency Rear Trunk Releas

I have a 2000 Boxter Left Hand Drive US Boxster. I took off rear driver tire and wheel well covering and looked all over for the emergency release wire but could not find. Do all 2000 US Boxsters have an emergency release ? Am I looking on the correct side. Both my manual and solenoid trunk releases are not working so I am unable to get in my trunk and desperately need to. Any suggestions ? Am I stuck with taking to a dealer. ? Thanks in advance for your help !

Rick
