Windshield swap?

Car came from desert outside LA. Windshield looks sandblasted.

Dealer or trust Safelite with all those chrome trims?

How do I ask about glass quality? Bought a $99 for my Ranger once, looked like carnival fun glass. Then I looked across it and saw it had very few crimps compared to other glass.

Timco...
I know Australia is a long way from UT, but the Boxster glassware should be basically the same. I had my screen replaced last month and the replacement was done at my home so I saw all the moves. It took approx 2 hours from start to finish.

What is important is that the glass is from Porsche - this came from the guy who fitted it. He said cheaper glass was just not worth it as it was thinner and starts to de-laminate sooner than the genuine.

Secondly, you must also replace both the inner and outer seals (part # 996 541 531 01 and 986 541 541 03) or you will have leaks.

Third is that the screen has the radio antenna embedded in the glass, so make sure its there and its connected correctly.

Hope this helps - a clear screen is great to see through too.....

What label is on the windshield and does it match the side windows? Mine doesn't match so i am checking if that means something was replaced.

Thanks. So, a Porsche windshield, antenna, both gaskets and any Techna-glass shop?

I got mine replaced at the dealership through insurance. They picked up my car and left me with a Q5 for a few days. Cost 1150 dollars. I only paid the deductible (500 dollars). The sad thing is that they farmed the work to another glass shop. The guy came into the dealership, they give him all the parts and he installed it. The final bill came from the glass shop and no from Porsche.

I just had safelite do mine.
paid $350 after install and tax. it has the antenna and works perfectly. I drove thru a hard rainstorm/ it gets rained on daily in the PNW not one leak. also the lifetime warranty of the job was hard to beat.
no warps in the glass/distortions. im very please and we shall see if down the road it de-laminates, but if it does, ill just use that warranty
