linkage ball cup retainer for '97 2.5

Any idea where i can find a nylon ball cup retainer clip for my 1997 2.5L, parts schematic does not show it, only shows the adjustable joint rod, OEM 986 424 931 05 for rod assembly, hoping to purchase just the 13mm diameter plastic push retainer. i can find many references, but they stop at 1995 for the L4. are these interchangeable?? looks like the part, fits into the hoop end of the link rod, and pops over the receiving ball of the selector link piece
