That is too cool

My only concern would be leaving a lithium battery in my car...especially if one parks outside a lot in hot, sunny weather. I'd love to do this, but I'd remove the iPads stock battery and run on car power only. I'd hate to watch my car burn because of a little battery.

It would be nice if it were easily removable, but agreed -- that is pretty darn sharp.

I use a 8GB fat Nano for tunes in my DD Accord. Pretty sure there's a lithium battery inside. No issues over the 2 years it's been in the car with temps anywhere from +35*C in summer to -30*C in the winter.

And it will (almost) never happen. It is a "tail risk", small enough that we equate it to zero, although it is not zero. The problem lies in the fact that because we equate these risks as zero we take them regularly for very small benefits. It always seems worth it, until of course we find our car in a smoldering heap because carting the ipod around in our pocket for the day was too inconvenient.

Yeah, it's a small risk, I just make a point to never leave a lithium powered device in any car for extended periods of time. A little over cautious, maybe...but better safe than sorry for me. I removed the battery from my GPS when I integrated it into my DD.

Here is an install with a Sony head unit in a VW Jetta.

I believe it will fit if you have the right option/style of trim pieces like the horseshoe surround etc... It is a very cool upgrade and the 6speed forum on the install makes for an interesting read on why he did it the way he did. I think I will be doing this eventually
