Also, this noise has reappeared, and I managed to locate the exact place where it is coming from: somewhere above the right front wheel and below the hood / gas cap area: Boxster strange noise below hood / above right front wheel - YouTube

Here is the blink Drive by the way..

One thing you could do Haz to make life easier on all us West Coasters - is change your job and lifestyle so you can post at a decent time, so that we can read it first and not have to wait until morning. You could do this for us ........couldn't you? ... Buddy?

ROFL
What a coincidence, I was just thinking the same about you guys
All you need to do to convince me is to provide me with marketing responsibility at your largest financial daily newspaper and an appartment within 10 min walking distance from mentioned job. Mkay? Canīt wait

BTW: I have made an appointment with SSP who did the IMS upgrade to return (100 miles one way..) to have them reset the tranny + do mentioned oil change and filter - free of charge! Letīs just hope the tranny doesnīt act up on the way there...

More info on the drunk tranny here: http://986forum.com/forums/general-discussions/48315-drive-light-blinks-after-ims-upgrade.html

Also, feel free to have go at what this can be:
http://986forum.com/forums/general-discussions/48319-strange-sound-gas-cap-area-ontop-right-wheelwell.html

I have to say this again, I am humble to receive so much feedback from you guys. Much karma will be coming your way!

Hi! Did not see your post before now. Thanks for sharing. I have no clue about oil types. Now that they Are performing a free oil change incl filter, I won't make a fuss about the type they use. They Are the ones who suggested Castrol.

You are one lucky Norway dude. I don't think in 10 years I've ever heard of someone deciding to look for a failure at the very momment the IMS began its final death spiral.

Wow, I'll bet it doesn't get much closer to a catastrophic engine failure given it looks like you've lost a few ball bearings.

The remains were found in the oil pan........
I just hope the missing steel balls just fell in the pan and didn't go through the oil pumps, but looking at the debris in the pan ???

Could you explain how I can see? Are there two sets of rows for the balls? (I had a few drinks last night when taking pics of the bearing..)

I don't know. Tried to figure out my engine number but wasn't able to make much sense of it.

Btw; I sent you an sms the other day, so that you have my number and want to go for a qick cruise or something...

I dont think so. I think it is the same like 30years ago. just different spice in the recipe to stimulate the competition. like girl cosmetic. oil is oil but the bottles is different and labels is all kind of colors. some bottle labels glow here in france

the only thing I understand about oil is if too thick it will not oil a performance engine properly or fast enough I forget. also I know some oil type will cause damage to some of the parts surface in the engine leaving deposite and other built up. so always better to check with the car makers

I seen on another forum a web link to the Porsche recommended oil but I lost it. it was a complete list of all approved oil. I cant find the link in google because the keywords are all giving info about other little company and many forum debates. Oil is a big business LOL $$$$$$$$$

This is the first car I have ever seen that is still running after so much grenade frag in the pan. They are usually all blowed up at this point.
