If I recall correctly, the IMS damage must occur within 10 years from the date the car was originally purchased or leased. At best, this means the IMS damage would need have to take place before the end of 2014, maybe sooner. And the settlement payment only pays a percentage of the replacement costs. My guess is an IMS retrofit job would mean less out of pocket costs for you.
