Connects2 Kit

Anyone have experience / comments about this kit?

Ebay Connects2

I am thinking of pairing that with this:
Apline 920 HD

Do you think I will need anything else (wiring, plugs, harnesses, drugs) etc?

Last time I helped someone install a stereo I was the one under the dash while he was having a beer, sitting in the shade.

What do you me exactly when you say pizza and beer on me?

I think if you brought the JD's car wash girls, you will get much more assistance, rather than pizza and beer.

The only thing you will use is the fascia as the headunit comes with a cage. I got this kit and got rid of it after a week, I found the lug which holds the fascia wears after you remove the fascia a couple of times and doesn't hold it in place well enough. In the end I bought a fascia plate off Trieullionaire on Renntech and is a much better fit no matter how many times you remove it.

Wiring converters are ok if you can find one that is correct. What speakers and headunit do you have now? I had the CDR23, that had the rubbish MOST system in and meant I had to replace the amplifier.

Sorry, not tempted to pop over and give you a hand - unless as mentioned already, you secure the services of the wash girls.

haha.. so I have the CDR23 and stock speakers. I would rather not touch the amp/speakers if I don't have to...

So, what else do you recommend for the fascia? I doubt that is still still available on renntech...

BTW... I am going to get this professionally installed at best buy. I just want to supply them all the parts that they need so there's no trouble...

You wont be able to use the amp as it's only connection is fibre optic. I replaced mine with a Alpine unit, got one that fitted where the OEM amp was fitted. I powered my front and rear speakers off the headunit and the door subwoofers from the amp.

I dont believe there are any other fascias available apart from these two.

****************! this seems to big of an issue and too much **************** to buy! Wondering if a single DIN with a flip up screen..would be better...would I still have to get the amp?

Yep, you cant use any of the MOST audio components. An amplifier isn't exactly expensive, I would definitely get a double din. Here's mine:

4. Mo Money

Anything else i'm missing? Nimbus, which model of the alpine amp did you get?

There are a few other bits. I think it's called a fakra aerial adaptor, wiring adaptor & rear speakers.

I cant get at the amp id plate but I picked mine by size as I wanted to fit it on the OEM bracket. I sold the CDR23, amp & CD changer which paid for half of the Pioneer 940bt.

I think Suncoast has a 2din kit, too. It's pricier though.

No, I haven't tried it so can't vouch for quality or fit.

Dgnarvs, thanks for the tip on the Suncoast 2din kit. I'm prepping to do a 2din instal and had not seen this kit. Looks like it includes the antenna adapter, cage, fascia, and wiring harness for my 01. Makes the price seem better.

Atomic, it would be awesome if you compile a list of everthing you had to buy/ are buying cost and where you got it installed.

You have to fit rear speakers, this was the first job I did:
