The Boxster is a REAL Porsche!!
I was pretty offended! LoL but in a fun way.
I searched but didn't find any threads of this movie that mentions the Boxster...
Ready??
GIRL MOST LIKELY TV Spot- "Moving Home PM" - YouTube
At 17 seconds...
Kristen Wigs' character rear ends a 986 (sporting a factory fixed spoiler!). She pleads: "It's just a couple of scratches!" The driver responds: "It's a Porsche!"
To which she condescendingly replies: "Sir... it's a Boxster."
So rude! HAHA! My jaw dropped and all my friends started giggling and teasing me! LOL

If I married a woman that looked like that actress, my mother would have said that she's "brutta faccia".

Saw a Boxster in the Movie "Noobs" (Yes its a dumb direct to cable Netflix jewel) however, it was owned by the guy from Starship troopers who played himself in the movie, and the "Kids" (Under 40) were immediately impressed as it was a "Porsche" to them, and anyone that owns a Porsche is certainly someone of stature to be reckoned with.
(JD's reputation preceeds ALL Boxster owners by association)
Interestingly this move had some nice looking girlage except for the Starship Troopers main squeeze, but she had a nice personality as Mama would say.

Sounds like the director is a Carrera owner. In Hollywood? Yes quiet a shocker.
That Boxster joke is one that would only be funny to a sports car enthusiast. Most random people in public who come up to me (very frequent occurrence) never describe my car as a Boxster, 99.9% of the time they ask about "your Porsche" or they say "Nice Porsche", etc. The only people who identify it first as a Boxster are other Porsche/Sports car people, a very limited group of the total public. And those sports car people are further divided into those who have actually taken part in Autox/DE's or have no formal instruction on high performance driving, neither do they know first-hand of the Boxster/Cayman's talents. The former usually give the Boxster respect having had many on their back bumpers while lapping in the twisty sectors. All of which begs the question why the director of this film would include a limited audience joke in the movie's all important trailer intended to gain mass audience attention? Seems out of place, more like a joke you would tell on a Speed Channel Show or Top Gear.
Two and A Half men did a similar type thing in one episode where they tried to imply that a Porsche roadster is not really a Porsche because the nerdy guy bought one. I laugh along because this is obviously a Hollywood type script writer who has never driven a Porsche beyond handing the keys to the valet at some fancy restaurant. It also tells me they don't know a thing about Porsche history before 1964.
The 981 Boxster and Cayman have been getting a ton of great press recently most centered on how much better of a sports car it is than all other Porsches on a cost basis, as well as fun basis. One article in Edmunds' touted "Top 10 reason why the Cayman is better than the 911". Maybe there's a Boxster/Cayman backlash in the works by Hollywood. LOL.

Actually, I find Kristen Wiig strangely very hot. She's by no means a conventional beauty, it's a personality thing.
But this movie looks awful. Paying the mortgage with a feeble reboot of a similar character to her Bridesmaid's role.
Still, nice joke about the Boxster - as above, wouldn't mean much to most people! But anyone with that awful wing deserves what they get.

Hey don't do anything irrational!! Most likely Porsche AG is sponsoring the film.
991 sales must be slipping already.
p.s.
Look at the Boxster's license plate... Did they really have to cast "the Porsche douchebag in the suit" as a Boxster driver?
Everyone knows Boxster drivers are hippest dudes and chicks.

There's also a green Boxster in the new Jennifer Anniston movie "Meet the Millers".

on second thought KRAM36, time to sell.
Once a chick flick uses your car its as bad as a Hip Hop artist mentioning the neighbohrhood you just moved to in a song. Time to get out ASAP. LOL.
(this is stand up routine a comic uses about Fidy Cent and St. Albans, Queens).

I think everyone here may be taking this joke the wrong way. Kristen's character points to the name on the back of the car, as if that is all she knows. I think she is trying to make her character look dumb - not the car.

Wrong audience! Lol
"You are never dedicated to something you have complete confidence in. No one is fanatically shouting that the sun is going to rise tomorrow. They know it's going to rise tomorrow. When people are fanatically dedicated to political or religious faiths or any other kinds of dogmas or 986 boxsters [sic], it's always because these dogmas or boxsters [sic] are in doubt.”

I disagree... If the writers/producers were going to take that angle a Carrera would have been the better choice.

Did anyone read this month's Excellence magazine? In it, a letter writer says; "The Boxster, which as a convertible will always be a girly/hairdresser car ..." Funny, but no mention of the 911 Cab.
The Boxster gets no respect, I tell ya, no respect.

Yes, I read that also, and I must admit, it did sting for a second.
I'd like to know the age of the OP of the letter, as he makes several references to over-50 Porsche buyers. If he is indeed part of this group, I would think he would appreciate the heritage of the roadster in sport car culture. The MGTC, Jag XK120, Porsche Speedster, Bugeye Sprite, MGA, TR3, MGB, and the Miata were all highly enjoyable kinesthetic machines.
But then again, he could just be another Porcshe a$$h0l3 who gives us Boxster owners a bad name.
Just sayin'...............
