The center panels on a four post lift can be removed for easy access underneath the car. Also, a sliding jack can be used to raise the wheels for suspension/brake/tire maintenance/repairs. In the lower pic, the sliding jack is shown under the front after lifting the rear and using jack stands. This gets all four wheels in the air for service at a comfortable work height.
