I'm still sticking with option one.

Johnny, I'm not usually a fan of that stripe (talking about the Porsche one, not that 9ff thing, not even touching that), but it's not terrible here. And for those calling it a "Spyder" stripe, this decal has existed long before the Spyder ever came along, so doing this is not the typical poseur act of, say, putting anything like GT3 or GT2, RS, RSR, or anything of that sort on a Boxster when none of those really belong there. As I've stated previously, though, I've had decals like this ruined for me by the likes of V6 Mustangs that get all sorts of gaudy things thrown on them to make them seem like anything more than a cheap, underpowered slag in somewhat tasteful skin. Seeing the "Carrera" script on the side of an old air-cooled classic is one thing, but this sort of decal always felt more like a "Hey, look! I have a Porsche, too!" shout, and unnecessary, even on the Spyders that actually have the extra performance to back it up. Ok, enough crapola. Johnny, I feel that the abrupt ending with the door seam because of the skirt is understandable, but to me that makes it seem like an incomplete job. Tedious as it'd be, I think it would be worthwhile to have the rest of the stripe that will fit into that few inches past the door leading up to the edge of the skirt would look better. It would at least complete the line up until the point of it naturally being hidden by the body cladding. Just my opinion, because of course when you get right down to it it's your car and you do what you like with it...ain't my cash footin' the bill. Also, if you need someone to acquire and do the vinyl job for you, I've got a friend who does it for a living and is excellent at the work. If you want me to put you in touch with him just shoot me a PM and we'll chat. May save you a bit of money and searching unless you're just looking to DIY. |

I like the original stripe.

Yes to the original !
Do it ! It is hard to believe your vehicle could be improved, but the side by side illustrates that it can be done. I get paid to create designs and your initial proposed small addition integrates so well at several levels. None of the other options thus far satisfy all at once the over all balance, appropriateness, contrast and sophistication of the original. As I advise my patrons, It is not a tattoo, you can change without scarring.

I was thinking of doing something simple like a small Hamann decal somewhere on the side skirt. Eh ?

Are you referring to the Porsche stripe ?
Yes the Porsche stripe or something of equal weight. |
What is does the "9ff" mean?
Being a bit geeky, at first look, it added up to 41...nothing! Then I thought that maybe in German script the f is like an s, but that does not compute either... Its not a generic stripe like "9xx", which would also be very dumb looking on a stripe....not likely. Forgive my Porsche newbieness, I've only owned a Porsche for a year now and my German is a bit weak. Enlighten me please! |

9ff is a German tuner that specializes in Porsche vehicles. |
That's one sweet 986 man! Re- graphic or no graphic? It's only a sticker, put it on, of you like it, leave it if ya don't.... Pull it off! I put on and pulled off a full body wrap last week! LoL :-)
|
I'm still partial to the first stripe you were looking into. Simple, straight, clean

The Sticker does look like its cut short by not extending over the fairing.
It just makes it look a little cheap. I do like the black sticker though, perhaps you should look into extending it over the fairing. It may not be easy, but if it can be done, I think it would look better and more professional. Like the others said, its only a sticker so try it on and see how you like it. |
ALL COMES TO HE WHO WAITS!...and explores..
To my surprise, I like the 9FF sticker more than the first BUT do you want to draw attention to a tuner company you haven't any shares in or to the awesome stance you've accomplished????

Johnny, I'm with those who say your car looks sensational as is. On the other hand, of the two stripes I vastly prefer the 9ff on this page. It is more subtle than the Porsche stripe and the top of the stipe seems to run exactly to the top of the side skirt behind the door. The Porsche one appears to run a bit higher. In addition, you don't need to adverstise that it is a Porsche, but the 9ff adds some intrigue and will likely bring about some inquiries even from some Porsche enthusiasts.

The 9ff sticker is too esoteric. Looks kinda ricer ttytt. I still think the 3/4 length Porsche stripe looks the best. I'd go with that and Chaz.
