Johnny, I'm not usually a fan of that stripe (talking about the Porsche one, not that 9ff thing, not even touching that), but it's not terrible here. And for those calling it a "Spyder" stripe, this decal has existed long before the Spyder ever came along, so doing this is not the typical poseur act of, say, putting anything like GT3 or GT2, RS, RSR, or anything of that sort on a Boxster when none of those really belong there.

As I've stated previously, though, I've had decals like this ruined for me by the likes of V6 Mustangs that get all sorts of gaudy things thrown on them to make them seem like anything more than a cheap, underpowered slag in somewhat tasteful skin. Seeing the "Carrera" script on the side of an old air-cooled classic is one thing, but this sort of decal always felt more like a "Hey, look! I have a Porsche, too!" shout, and unnecessary, even on the Spyders that actually have the extra performance to back it up.

Ok, enough crapola. Johnny, I feel that the abrupt ending with the door seam because of the skirt is understandable, but to me that makes it seem like an incomplete job. Tedious as it'd be, I think it would be worthwhile to have the rest of the stripe that will fit into that few inches past the door leading up to the edge of the skirt would look better. It would at least complete the line up until the point of it naturally being hidden by the body cladding.

Just my opinion, because of course when you get right down to it it's your car and you do what you like with it...ain't my cash footin' the bill.

Also, if you need someone to acquire and do the vinyl job for you, I've got a friend who does it for a living and is excellent at the work. If you want me to put you in touch with him just shoot me a PM and we'll chat. May save you a bit of money and searching unless you're just looking to DIY.

I can't think of any other way to approach the issue of the side skirt, other than to eliminate the last segment of the stripe similar to this ?

I counted them one day when I had nothing better to do. I think I stopped counting at 15. Floor mats, wheel centres, brake calipers. Radio logo when it comes on. Yeah - I've got spare time on my hands.

I like the stripe but it is a common addition and your car is far from common. Here is another interpretation IMO adds flare but does not take away from all the work you have done...going with the less is more:

I would also do this treatment to the indention for the third light in the trunk.

I like it, but the truth is it's what you like that matters. If you want it do it!

To be recited in a Scottish accent!

Wee hoverin’, fleein’ ferlie fello’,
Wi’ yer stripes o’ black and yello’,
Yer ever sae bonnie, so ye ur,
Like a spring lamb – only smaller and withoot the fur,
But see if ye ever sting me oan the bum again,
Ah’m gonnae jump on yer heid so Ah um.

JD one last thing - the picture at the start of this thread seems to show that you have made a very sensible mod to the Dangermobile... looks like you have moved the steering wheel to the right hand side of the cockpit.

Now you will start to feel the extra horses that UK driving stylee brings.
Well played sir!

I like the stripe. At first I was opposed to the idea (that hood stripe was heinous), but I think this one really adds some nice detail to the car. In fact, now when I look at the pic without the stripe, it looks kinda bland. The full length spyder stripe was too much, but this narrower 3/4 length stripe really fits the car.

If you really want red wheels you could just get three more spares and put those on.

I say no to the stripe. for some reason, I only like the stripe on the white cars w/o ground effects.

nay--- too busy with all the scoops and such. Looks better on Particlewave's car because it's cleaner. The hardest thing about good design is deciding what stands in the shadow, thereby allowing something else to take center stage---the eye can only take in so much at once . I've observed that the younger one is, the more distraction they're comfortable with. As we age, we grow to appreciate the 'clean, timeless' lines (less distraction). I guess it comes down to how old and sophisticated you are!

I actually like it JD. I think that it is clean and simple and grounds the look of the car. Not a fan of the hood stripe and I would keep the wheels black. It's a beautiful car and the logo on the bottom does not take anything away from the look. If you like it, you need to do it

I've been flipping back and forth on this one...the stripe does look cool but my Chinese cook Confucius say "less is more" ...if you walk into a room and see five paintings on the wall the eye is not drawn to any of them but if there is only one painting on the wall the eye is immediately drawn to it. JD...your Danger Mobile is that one painting on the wall the way it looks now. IMO it's poetry in motion and you don't have to do anything else to it. Would anyone want to start mucking around with Michelangelo's masterpieces?

I've often wondered if it was that painting which inspired the "pull my finger" gag ?
