Still welcome? Picking up a 2013 tomorrow...
After making the switch from a 2006 bolster to a launch 911s pdk, I'm going back to the Boxster and I pick up my 2013 tomorrow. After reading the hate (?) in the 981 thread, I wonder if I'm still welcome here in my MR2 knockoff (if it helps, it'll have 20s)...?
|
I love the 981. Ignore haters, and congrats on purchase. They're just jealous
|
986/987/981 - they're all Boxster's!
|
Cool. Post the Boxster's build and all the details.
|
We still like ya... Jealous too! Post pics!!!
|
It's off the lot. Kinda impulse.

Congrats! I would do it in a heartbeat if my wallet allowed me. Maybe in 9 or 8 or 6 years I will make the jump. I love the way they look. Thanks for the post and yes, I am jealous.

Cfos,
you are only welcome back if you sell it to one of us in five years. Don't worry hating the new thing is a long-established and cherished Porsche tradition. Congrats on upgrading to thee race-bred Porsche. (that would be the one with only two seats for the all the teen-agers reading along tonight). |
Congrats on your new purchase looks really nice!
|
NICE!!! It's is a little ugly but because I'm a nice guy and I would like to help you get back in good graces with everyone on this site, I would trade you for my 1998 Boxster :D. You don't have to thank me, I just like to help a guy out .
Seriously, that is a bad a$$ car! |
Color me envious.
|
No need to feel self-conscious...the car's beautiful.
But 20" wheels? That seems crazy big to me. Maybe I'm missing something here, but it seems to me this trend towards huge wheels runs rampant. Unless it's to accommodate bigger brake rotors, what's the attraction? Does it not make for a rougher ride? Just askin'... |
Congrats cfos! Is she a pdk or standard?
Brad |
I'm jealous
It's almost as good looking as the 986 I guess now you don't have to flash at any 986/987s Enjoy |
Sweet! Congrats. What is Amaranth Red really like? More like Guards or Arena, or neither? Thanks. Can't really tell from the pic or maybe it's my laptop.
|
We'll forgive you, but it's going to take about 8-10 really good pictures for us to do it. Lots of angles and closeups.
Plus an explanation of any new, improved features. Then we'll consider it . . . :D Nice car! |
Magnifico!....:D

Was 988 already used or did they not want to infer that it was twice as good as a 944 ;) The 981's are really neat, but with all the electronic help I wonder if it still feels as connected to the road with the driver? I guess it will keep you out of too much trouble if your a poor driver, miss judge the road conditions, perfect for us older geezers with slower reactions, bad eye sight and lack of depth and speed perception ;) Although a few days of performance driving school and tracking will correct all that. |
You are still welcome as long as you take great care of it! One of us will probably be buying it in a few years! Great looking impulse buy! Congrats!
|
You are welcome here. Anybody with a Boxster is....
Look forward to a Cayman/newer Boxster in a few years.:) |
981s are simply badazz! Bring it brother!

Unlike the way people treat 914/924/928/944 owners for not having a "true Porsche" or whatever that silliness is, how hypocritical would we be to turn away anyone with any Boxster? Our car is just as much of a hated-on vehicle for not being a 911 as the others I mentioned are. I think this being a community comes first, way before anyone's personal biases toward one car or another. Oh, and no, 20s won't help you here...I hope you've got a nice pillow for the driver's seat to keep your spine somewhat intact.:p  Don't go anywhere, eh? |

Congrats on the car. What are you doing with the 911 out of curiosity, and what are your reasons for "coming back" to the Boxster? |
Quote:
1. Are you getting manual or PDK 981? 2. Did the 911 experience make you miss the Boxster? |
Drove one and loved it...ah and dare I say it was PDK
Please let us know all about it!! |
I want to hear about the new electronic steering. Or is that next year?

But that's me, and I'm just sayin'............. Congrats on purchasing one of the finest autmobiles on the planet! TO |
Wow, I'm a little overwhelmed by the response.
Briefly, 1. Yes, pdk -- as was the 911 and I had a tip in the 987 before the 997.2 2. The 911 had much more car then I needed; I don't think I ever launched with the Sport Chrono Plus.; sound is amazing in the 981 even though less horses 3. I liked the style of the 20s. I think stock is now 19" although I haven't driven it more than 6 or so miles so I can't comment on ride quality. Even if it is bumpy-er, I don't think I'll mind. 4. The red is darker -- similar to a previous red the Porsche used to offer; incidently, they have a lime-ish green color that reminded me of djolmas (sp?) who had seafoam |
Congratulations that is a beautiful Boxster, enjoy.
|
Perfect color in one of the best looking, and best handling cars ever.
|
Wait, what, when...did I miss a 981 haters thread. Guess I'll just rub it in, keep hate'n!! Oh btw I still have my 986, even after 1000 miles on the 981 I still love driving the 986 and am finding it hard to give up...but I can tell it will happen soon...maybe. The 986 is like an old pair of shoes that are hard to give up, they just feel so right.
Yesterday and today was the first time I pushed it hard, a very high level Porsche guy told me to ignore the 2000 mile break in period, told me to go enjoy my car. Enjoy I did! Oh I also had the clear bra put on last night and now I love smashing bugs, just one more reason to drive hard. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1367553567.jpg |
Would love to see the new car/color in person someday.Rock on with the "new car smell" !!!!!!!! Congrats
