Still welcome? Picking up a 2013 tomorrow...

After making the switch from a 2006 bolster to a launch 911s pdk, I'm going back to the Boxster and I pick up my 2013 tomorrow. After reading the hate (?) in the 981 thread, I wonder if I'm still welcome here in my MR2 knockoff (if it helps, it'll have 20s)...?

Crono0001 05-01-2013 07:29 PM

I love the 981. Ignore haters, and congrats on purchase. They're just jealous

thstone 05-01-2013 07:31 PM

986/987/981 - they're all Boxster's!

Chuck W. 05-01-2013 07:37 PM

Cool. Post the Boxster's build and all the details.

We still like ya... Jealous too! Post pics!!!

cfos 05-01-2013 07:50 PM

It's off the lot. Kinda impulse.

I dig your impulse! My 986 was a bit of an impulse too; I haven't regretted the impulse one bit.

Congrats! I would do it in a heartbeat if my wallet allowed me. Maybe in 9 or 8 or 6 years I will make the jump. I love the way they look. Thanks for the post and yes, I am jealous.

Cfos,
you are only welcome back if you sell it to one of us in five years.
Don't worry hating the new thing is a long-established and cherished Porsche tradition.

Congrats on upgrading to thee race-bred Porsche.
(that would be the one with only two seats for the all the teen-agers reading along tonight).

Congrats on your new purchase looks really nice!

Meat Head 05-02-2013 03:15 AM

NICE!!! It's is a little ugly but because I'm a nice guy and I would like to help you get back in good graces with everyone on this site, I would trade you for my 1998 Boxster :D. You don't have to thank me, I just like to help a guy out .

Seriously, that is a bad a$$ car!

Deserion 05-02-2013 03:23 AM

Color me envious.

Frodo 05-02-2013 03:43 AM

No need to feel self-conscious...the car's beautiful.

But 20" wheels? That seems crazy big to me. Maybe I'm missing something here, but it seems to me this trend towards huge wheels runs rampant. Unless it's to accommodate bigger brake rotors, what's the attraction? Does it not make for a rougher ride? Just askin'...

southernstar 05-02-2013 03:43 AM

Congrats cfos! Is she a pdk or standard?

I'm jealous

It's almost as good looking as the 986

I guess now you don't have to flash at any 986/987s

Enjoy

Flavor 987S 05-02-2013 04:01 AM

Sweet! Congrats. What is Amaranth Red really like? More like Guards or Arena, or neither? Thanks. Can't really tell from the pic or maybe it's my laptop.

Porsche Chick 05-02-2013 04:28 AM

We'll forgive you, but it's going to take about 8-10 really good pictures for us to do it. Lots of angles and closeups.

Plus an explanation of any new, improved features.

Then we'll consider it . . . :D

Nice car!

M31 05-02-2013 04:43 AM

Magnifico!....:D

I always wondered about the model number logic, 1st gen 986, 2nd gen 987, 3rd gen 981 ???

Was 988 already used or did they not want to infer that it was twice as good as a 944 ;)

The 981's are really neat, but with all the electronic help I wonder if it still feels as connected to the road with the driver?

I guess it will keep you out of too much trouble if your a poor driver, miss judge the road conditions, perfect for us older geezers with slower reactions, bad eye sight and lack of depth and speed perception ;)

Although a few days of performance driving school and tracking will correct all that.

BruceH 05-02-2013 06:49 AM

You are still welcome as long as you take great care of it! One of us will probably be buying it in a few years! Great looking impulse buy! Congrats!
