An ode to the envious !,
Hi all,
Not sure about the US but in the UK there is an element of people that think that the Boxster is a "hairdressers" car. It is for those pillocks that I have written the following poem. I do not profess to be a literary genius but I do profess to be a Boxster owner with a clear message and a few beers inside me. See what you think! "In the United kingdom, the boxster have a curse It's been referred to as a poor mans car, and easy on the purse But Since I've been an owner, I quickly come to learn It great to be a Porsche owner, no matter what you earn Those who criticise the box, and say that we are frauds Are the same folks that envy us, as you step into your fords I've quickly come to realise, that those who mock us are The type of blokes who look at us, and would love to own our car As I slip my 2.7, into third along the street You stare at me through envious eyes, as I leave you dead as meat I do hope that my simple words, are clear for all to hear my rear view mirror sees you all, as you quickly disappear I may not have a million pounds, all saved up in the bank But I do know that I drive a car, with a tiger in its tank So to all of you that try to say, that boxsters are a joke I suggest that you really are, just green and envious folk In summary I suppose I'd like, to simply hope and pray That if you don't like boxsters, your entitled to your say We all know that you have a choice, whatever car you choose The fact that you can't join us, means that we win and you loose" All the best guys Bob |
my hairdresser drove a Carrera Cabriolet. His husband drove a Cayenne.
They thought my Boxster S was too impractical. For the record, the overwhelming amount of commentary that I receive is incredibly positive."you have my dream car", "nice Porsche sir" being the two most common. But then again this America and from my dealings with British people, it seems they are far more judgmental of each other than we are here. They seem to judge everything about each other, the way they speak "accent is too regional", where they were educated, the way they dress "....so not posh" and just about everything else. It has too be the most class obsessed culture I've dealt with while working in NYC for nearly two decades. |

This was only meant as a bit if fun. Didn't expect the deep social commentary!! Pleas accept my apologies for King George and congratulations on the independence. Regards Nobby |
"All in good fun for everyone" That's my poem and I stand firm.
After my trips to my beloved London, this Yank knows that Nobby will agree that any fun Porsche is better than what "white van man" drives! |
I have the same hair stylist as Bruce Willis and not a word is ever mentioned about my boxster ?

The wifey and I just finished watching "Looper", pretty decent flick. Given Bruce Willis' current hairline, a blind monkey could handle his "hairdressing". |
nobby, it's "lose" not "loose" Last word is spelled wrong.

If one takes the time to create such well written poems, should it not be spelled correctly to keep the reader engaged in the content and not the spelling error?

My larger question is why would a man go to a "hairdresser"? I sense a man-card revocation is in order!
Btw I thought the retort from nut was better than the poem! Seems to me that writing poetry, regardless of the number of pints consumed, is a questionable foul of the manly scorecard  |

And Randall didn't even use a single "y'all", so you could hardly tell he was a Texan. And in the interest of full disclosure, I used to mock a friend in Manchester who drove a Boxster, after a 911, after a 360. (How stupid I was!) |

The English language is a fairly recent one and is a mixture of several languages after many invasions as well as colonisations (note there is no 'z' in this word).
I think that you will find that 'colour' was originally spelt this way, the original occupants of the US had a completely different word for when they were discussing things in their wigwams. The immigrants who occupy the country now didn't know how to spell and forgot to take a dictionary hence 'color' and a heap more incorrectly spelt words. |
