Great short film! Shot from the front bumper of a 450SEL 6.9 in the early morning hours. The sound from what is speculated to be Claude Lelouch Ferrari 275GTB was dubbed in after the shoot. One of my favorites!

Car Movies

The "Seven Ups" has one of the best car chase scenes ever! Roy Schieder is not as cool as Steve McQueen though!

This is my favorite road movie of all time. The cast is outstanding and the Gas Station destruction scene is a classic!

I was going to mention that one! I remember seeing it at the theatre when it first came out. (See Porsche Chick? You weren't that far off the mark with the bathrobe crack!)

The interesting thing about Bullitt was that it was filmed with so many parked cars around in the middle of San Francisco with any "speeding up the film" to create an illusion of speed.
BTW, I'd trade my Boxster for that Mustang in a second.

Nah. 60 is the new 40, 80 is the new 60. I heard a statistic that just this month a person was born who will likely live to 150. I think at that point, 100 will be the new 40.

All I know is that everyone looks SO much younger to me than they did when I was in my 20's.

Here's another classic I almost forgot from the 1970's (seems like a lot of the best car chase scenes were from movies shot in the 60's and 70's.......Before everyone got lazy with CGI and "Green Screens"). The clip is in the middle of an interesting article that explains how the scene was shot.

The French Connection | Film | Scenic Routes | The A.V. Club

I don't think we want to recreate this chase with our Boxsters.......Way too much body damage! However, it does remind me of my drive up to LAX on the 405 on a few Monday mornings!!!

Okay, it's time we start listing more movies from the last couple of decades, guys.

Points for something under 10 years old . . .

"The Driver" starring Ryan O'neal, haven't seen it in decades. Great precision driving in a parking deck scenes.

Lemans best, Grand Prix close second. Incredible cars and sounds from an incredible era. The scenes from GumBall Rally with the Cobra and Ferrari Daytona, the opening sequence of Cannonball Run with the sounds of the high revving Lambo.

Btw, yes the f n f series are absolutely ridiculous. With the horrible acting, stupid plots, and thinly veiled latent homo-erotic undertones, there's no doubt they suck fast and they suck furiously. Now, I'm not about to go off on them like Mr. Get-Off-My-Lawn because the truth is I have a pretty lucrative hobby building extremely quick cars for those kinds of dudes and a surprising number of chics (no vinyl graphics and no stupid neon colors, sorry Vin Diesel). However, whoever said Tokyo Drift was the best of that turd lineup is on crack! Fast 5 was dumb but was far and away the most entertaining and least cringe inducing of the group!!

Hadn't seen that before---I checked it out for the first time on YouTube (The Seven-Ups Car Chase (1973) - YouTube). Not bad, though I do agree with the not-as-cool comment.

Everyone recognize the 'bad guy' driver that Scheider's chasin'? Back from the dead, so to speak...
