986 LED tail lights
which is better? I'm leaning towards the smoked because the other looks a little too bright/busy. The smoked would probably look better since my wheels were refinished in gun metal from the standard silver. I'm not a 100% sold on either though.
smoked
clear
CGT... you know for comparison

Personally, I'd go with clear. I've always thought that smoked looks a bit juvenile/ghetto fabulous
Would look great with some gold spoke wheels

has anyone simply swapped out the old school bulbs for LEDs? Is it even doable with the factory housing?

The simple answer to your question is no.
It is not doable with the factory housing. The polarity is reversed. with LED bulbs, polarity counts (unlike regular bulbs).

You almost killed me there.
I do think the clear will look better on light colors, but for the dark ones, the smoked looks awesome ( I got them on my black car ).
But golden wheels ?

For a silver car, I would go clear.
I have smoked on my black car, and find myself wanting something in-between the clear and smoked.

I went clear LED after a period of smoked, don't forget to change the 3rd high brake light as well.
Posted this twice by mistake but cant seem to delete it.

I asked the same question awhile back and I'm really glad I went with smoked. The smoked lights look factory on my car, but my boxster is also black.

I like the blacked out on yellow, Guvs...smoked looks ok on black, but I think silver, blue, and white look best with clear.
