Dealer Complaint

It's been a couple weeks since I picked up my car from the dealer. I had my window regulator replaced. Sunday I noticed a large scratch inside the door panel and going down to the side skirts. It is obvious that it was from the window regulator replacement.

Am I SOL, or can I still do something about it?

mrsparkle, I think you should factually explain this situation to the dealer, and ask them how they would like to resolve the issue. Do this discussion in person with the Service Advisor.

I think a good dealership will accept responsibility, and resolve it to your satisfaction.

If they won't accept full responsibility, ask them what percentage of responsibility they will accept. Then, negotiate an equitable solution (win-win).

This is an excellent reminder to fully check-over the work (and the area they work around) before you pay for services and depart the dealership's premises. Another approach, is to have shown the Service Advisor the door panel area, prior to the work starting, and make the statement that you would greatly appreciate the car returned to you exactly as it is now- no marks or scratches.

If this goes bad on you, ask to speak to the General Manager/Owner. You can also tell them you plan to file a complaint with Porsche North America and/or the Better Business Bureau.

GOOD LUCK and be persistant. Negotiate what you deserve.
