Automotive Scissor Lift

Just saw this lift for $908.58 today on-line. Combine with a 20% off coupon to knock another $180 off. Shipping is about $100. Seems like a pretty good deal. Has anyone tried one of these? The reviews seem to be pretty good. Really don't have the money right now, but it sure would be nice to have.

Bruce, this is the EXACT same lift I purchased from Gregg Smith last year. Max load is 6600lbs and the best part is the hydraulics are USA made. I ended up paying 1600 delivered...so this would be an awesome little find!

Is there good access to everything? How about storing it? Do you just park over it?

I was able to access everything without problem. As for storage, the unit has a lifting pin to roll out of the way if you want, however, we simply park either car over the top of it. The Boxster can do it without using board risers (on good suspension). Robins car simply drives right over the top without issue.

Note: if you do have to lift the car to get on it (as mine started out with a shot suspension) I only needed a 2x6 to get up on it.

Holy Moly is this timely. Eric, I am looking at the Greg Smith Lift I'm thinking you have:

How sure are you that this is the same exact lift? I'm in the process of making a recess in my garage floor to accept the above Greg Smith Lift, after the 20% off coupon the HF will be $726.86 plus shipping (unless pick-up is an option) plus tax, vs $1375 (Fleabay price) plus tax since I'd pick-up in Indianapolis. Those are quite different dollars.

Just went through the specs, the HF lift is 99 3/4" long, the GS lift is 85" long. Since I've already cut my floor and have the Mini-Mix lined up etc. I'm pretty much tied into the GS lift...... My guess they are pretty much the same thing. HECKUVA DEAL for anyone looking......

I looked into the specs of the Harbor Freight vs. the Greg Smith one I linked and there are differences between the two, most notably the weight difference. Greg Smith's is 150 lbs. heavier (shipping weight) even though it is over a foot shorter in overall length lying flat.

The difference is 17" in max height. 56" vs 39"

I wonder if either of the H-F lifts will fit under our cars. They say the minimum height is 7" (with pads). The Greg Smith (Atlas) is 5 3/4". Also, H-F says it could take 5-17 weeks to get one. Still, the H-F with the 20% off is tempting - especially if my local store has one. I've got the H-F motorcycle lift for my Harley and say what you will about H-F quality, but it works great.

You would have to either recess the lift into the floor or build ramps out of 2 x lumber to clear the lift. I am going to purchase the Greg Smith lift and even at stock ride height a 993 or Boxster will not clear it.

Yes you are right, that HF lift is really a great deal right now.

Seems like HF and other web sites where excellent deals are found have algorithms built in to raise prices if the page hits go up or sales of the product spike. Hmmm.
