I've owned six miatas! Originally an unmolested 99 followed by a 2001 BRG Special Edition (which my dad now owns) followed by a 90 SSB race car followed by a s/c 99 time trial beast that could turn 1:40s at Road Atlanta (247whp, 2078lbs, trick everything). Then I bought the 90 SSB back from the guy I sold it to (counting that car twice) and finally a 90 Spec Miata.

I hade a 1996 triple black Miata, bought used. Nice fun car but I kinda felt like I was a "bobblehead" driving it. Really small car and all the more noticeable on the freeway with the top down and being passed by transports. Boxster feels waay more substantial.

Old Post stumbled across...

Funny. Just came across this post. I owned 4 Miata prior to the Boxster including a 2004 Mazdaspeed Turbo. Great cars. I like the boxster better even if it isn't as quick as my modified MSM. Interesting to see how many others made the same upgrade to the Porsche.

Miata ownership

Count me as a prior Miata owner. I had a '97, the last year they had the retractable headlights (I don't like the new design).

Great car, low maintenance costs and fun to drive. I traded it for my second Porsche (a cherry 944).

Comparing the two cars (Miata v. Box) is an apples/oranges thing to me. Personally, while I love my Boxster, the one advantage of the Miata was that I didn't worry so much about it. If I didn't wash it one week or went an extra few miles between oil changes, no problem, the thing was bullet proof. With the Box, I worry too much ("is that burning I smell.....?).
